Pic **Custom Manifold** almost completed
Hello there. First, thanks for all the support and hint for completing my custom manifold. As it was told, most of the parts can be found locally or at mcmaster.com and cheapturbo. Here is the results, it should look alike Maxrev manifold. It only need to be welded togeter and a neck and flange must be welded as well. It's pretty easy to do, the hardest part I think, is to cut the pipes, du to very thick walls.

They are about 10cm... but you just put them front/back and you will see how much to cut! I must say, there is no predeterminated mesearurement.

here's a Q, did you have to "squish" the pipes at all to match the ovals of the flange?

-H u gotta stay on it with a torch for like 10 min then take a big sledge to the ends. make sure u hit it i the right spot or your piece could be garbage.. i port matched mine pretty good that way.. only took an hour. |

when i made the fullrace knockoff i just put the pieces in a big bench vice and it ovaled out quite nice with out heat. Beau |

HEre's a question.. if the pips are actually more round, and the port ont he flange actually smaller diameter than the pipe, would it matter if it were "squished" or not?

Looking nice but isnt that flange a bit thin? 6 or 8mm rigth?
i used 10mm thick iron on this: http://home.online.no/~arban/Pics/Headers9.jpg as an alternative i have also bougth a manifold from a different car with a tubular mild steel manifold wich i am in progress with modyfying for fitting my engine and the turbocharger. This one has a 12mm thick flange. http://home.online.no/~arban/Pics/FS%20mani3.jpg pic shows the manifold in untouched condition. |
