Finally, I have installed a catch can. I have T-ed into it from 3 places: stock PCV valve slot (PCV valve still left in, i couldn't find any fitting for replacement - what do you use for it btw?), valve cover and black oil separator box. I see the breather filter on catch can smokes a bit. Is this normal? The engine is in perfect condition, 1000 miles since new pistons and rings were installed.

 

Does it smoke a lot in boost. If so , bye bye ringlands.

 

I don't know as i don't see under the hood in boost.
In case i plug the pcv back to intake, there is no smoke at all.

What plugs do you put iso original pcv? I can't find L shaped vacuum fitting. Or can i remove the spring somehow from the pcv valve?

I suppose the smoke is caused by the open ventillation system. PCV stays closed all the time as in the line coming from the breather filter sees atmospheric pressure. So I really must remove and plug something in its place. I suppose at least.

 

Now i spent an hour with modifying the pcv system again. I have made the pcv system according to the DIY FAQ. The only the difference i made:
I have left the black box in place (pcv valve removed of course), but connected both lines on top to the catch can (as you can see on the picture).
And i use valve cover filter iso T the valve cover line to catch tank.

I suppose i I made it right. It looks like this:



But the filter still smokes a bit.
I don't think the ringlands have gone as the car runs fine and JE Pistons gasnitride rings has 1000miles only. Boosted a few times only.
And in case i put back the pcv valve to its original place and send it the original vacuum port (iso catch can) in intake manifold, smoke disappears.

Any mistake in the pcv system? Please, comments are welcome.

 

i dont have a catch can, but i run the tube on the black box down tword the ground with nothing attached to it and the breather on the valve cover. They both smoke a little at idle as well. I'm pretty sure its normal, because mine has been running for a while. Since the pcv isnt hooked up to the intake, vacuum isnt pulling the smoke back into the engine to be burned.
