have you ever actually checked if theres any vaccum at the line going to your filter? i made a few like that and there was pretty much nothing. im sure your catchcan will still get junk in it but i dont know..

alright well ive installed the rig... my car still smokes pretty bad, so i think i blew out the oil rings.. who knows.

there is a very strong vaccume at idle... its hard to say how much vac there is during boost.. maybe if i have some time i can T it and check with my boost gauge?

i think the system would work just as well without the air line filter... ive seen many many stock turbos with more than a bit of oil in the intake... plus that ------ thing cost me $26, im gonna return it hahaha

well sorry to hear it didnt work foryou, danz btw are you using an oil restrictor before you're turbo? this could also cause some smoking. I would suggest you pick up a compression tester and see what it tells you.

Yes I did, on that setup i was getting like 1-2 in. hg of vac in that line, which from what I've read is plenty and its def. better than none or even a positive pressure. From what i've found any more than 15 or so in. hg and you start sucking a ton of oil out with the vac.

well after running this setup i found some things that didnt work at all.. and things you need to do for it to work better

what was happening was during boost there was not enough suction to suck the oil into the catch can... it would build up in the stock black box and when you let off and go into vac it sucks it all through your enigine

the oil vapors lower the octane content of your fuel as well

if you want any suction from your turbo intake you need to install a slash cut breather, which is basicly a tube with a 45 degree angle cut at the end (instead of flat) and the hole needs to face the opposite direction of the flow of air. that will create some vaccume

from my readings i have decided to go with an open vent system similar to the T1 breather. except ghetto style.. line off VC into vented can, line from stock black box to vented can (at bottom of catch can to serve as a drain under non-pressurized circumstances)

Finally someone listens.

Smart move. Oil/fuel blow-by vapor doesn't do an engine any good.

as long as its not going through in boost its all i'm looking for, once I go into vac I can live with a little puff, I'm running it open right now also but will be going back to this setup. I'm getting plenty of vac in my pre turbo durring boost but maybe because i'm running a pretty big turbo and a pretty decent amount of boost.
