thinking about my pcv setup
wondering if this would do the job.
the blue are valves

Re: PCV

I don't see the point of your valves, they are essentially allowing flow in both directions negating themselves.

Just use a straight line instead of using 2 Ts and 2 check valves. Setup looks fine.

Re: PCV

Yeah the valves aren't going to do a whole lot. Just use a straight line for a setup.

Re: PCV

ya i thought of that after the fact.
should i just use fuel line or what? i remember someone using clear tube, but i don't want that sticking out under tha hood. i'm sure it will turn yellow after a while too

HMTguy 03-08-2007 10:53 AM

Re: PCV

Who cares if it turns yellow, use whatever you want. It doesn't matter.

Drill out the PCV and just point a hose to the ground from it.

Seriously, just vent it to the ground.

That's all I'm doing this time, the hell with crazy pcv setups. I went one step further and pulled the pcv valve out completely and dropped a line to the ground from the top of the stock catch can.

Same here.

Re: PCV

I vent to the ground. Bought a catchcan off ebay and said wtf do I need this for I don't wanna keep whatever gets caught

So I sold it and let the tube go to the ground

Re: PCV

the tube from the black box directly to the ground, no stock valve. or anything.

Ha, I never thought about it that way, but it's true kind of like saving your poop.

Re: PCV

well i must have missed the memo, last i read there were slash cuts & moroso catch cans with filters and baffles. now its just "run a tube to the ------ ground, man" thats cool and a hell of a lot easier. and cheaper.
will this cause a problem at the track??

Who cares what other people say just do what you want.

Oh and make sure your tube doesn't get yellow, that means your engine is about to blow.

This was the last pcv setup I ran... Attachment 28771
I modeled it after my g/f's '04 wrx setup. It worked ok (manifold line could be replaced by a slash-cut) but venting to the ground is just so much easier :y

I lost my breath when I read that, then I realized who said it and to whom...

That setup lets oil vapor back into the combustion chamber.... detonation is much more likely when that happens.

You're halfway there,

There's a breather box on the back of the block under your oil filter with a hose that connects up to the intake manifold. Make this hose go to the ground too and you are set.

It did go to a catch-can after the stock pcv valve and before the T-off, was just a quick slap-together drawing. Just is too much hassle to deal with, and clutters the engine bay too much.

Drill out the PCV or remove it when you do that though.
