Ostrich won't connect!!! Help!
 

Ok so I finally got my turbo setup together and on my car this weekend. Got the ECU chipped and that's all good. But now my computer won't connect to my Ostrich. I have all my com ports setup properly, I downloaded and installed the drivers from Moates.net and I'm all out of ideas. I know that it won't load anything onto the ECU without the key turned but I should still be able to load my .bin to the ostrich without it being hooked up to the car correct? So when I try to load my .bin or even test the connection to the ostrich it times out and I get the message that it tried 3 times but couldn't connect.

Could someone please let me know why this is happening?

recheck com ports and get any updates for your computer available.

the ostrich doesnt need to be connected to ---- (other than the laptop) to load to it.

i kept getting the same problem, it was that the port coms werent setup right. i found the awnser by searching on pgmfi.org but i cant find it right now... try SEARCHING there...

Yup, COM ports and rarely advanced COM settings do the trick.

i had the same problem as well..i went in and changed the com ports for both my datalogging cable and ostrich hookup in the pc..and the same in BRE(which i use) or whatever program your using..and magically it worked...

I tried searching and all I could find was the com port thing. I have a new laptop coming in the mail tomorrow so I will try that and hopefully it will work.

Both the com port setting in crome settings and the device manager are set to com4 so it should be working.

For the Ostrich or the datalogging cable? What are the port speeds under advanced settings?

Its for the ostrich and the port speeds are set to 9600bps.... hmm... Its supposed to be higiher then that isn't it...

Nope still nothing. I have everything set the exact same from the device manager to crome and still nothing. It still times out. I think that I'll just wait for the new laptop to come and try that.

Reboot windows, check to make sure the change in settings took. COM settings, particularly on some older Dells, can be glitchy as networking or USB circa Win 98.

Found out what the problem was. If anyone has any plans on buying an ostrich, the com port speed in the crome settings has to be set at 920000.

thanks.. the thred helped me a bit..

i curently use turboedit 2.6.1 but i cant find any way to change the speed setting for realtime tuning with the ostrich

is there a secret button ore somting that i cant find? :1

Control panel, system, device manager, if you can't figure out what to do on that end no one can help you. Word of advice, tho, dont give up if it still doesnt work... close TE, try rebooting, etc. Some hardware configs on some laptops are glitchy and you have to try different ---- until you learn YOUR laptop.

i know how to do the changes in windows but in TE there is no speed settings etc.. wondering if there was som kind of ini file witch i coud edit .... but i will continue to work on it.. it is working in crome, but not in TE... wierd stuff..

That's odd.

Remove then reinstall TE, see how that works out.

Hrm.

I've only used TE a handful of times, once with my Ostrich, so I'm not a huge expert on the subject. I have to go to work now, but I'll dig out a laptop and the Ostrich and give things a poke and see if I notice anything that will help you.

i have even tried with a new computer.. and no response... :7 i dont understand... coud it be that turbo editd does not realy suport the ostrich? pherhaps it is the newest firmware..? i have run out of ideas... btw, got it conected to bre and it worked... but no TE..

I didnt even bother to read your whole post so forgive me if someone already said it.

I had the same problems. Basically what I would do is make maps with crome, and uploaded it tuner pro rt. simple. Try that next if someone hasent suggested it already. If that doesent work then good luck.
