If you wanna run 10psi, but your car starts to knock at 8psi then you lower the compression. Now you can run 14psi without knock. I doubt that a 10 to 1 car at 7 psi is going to out power a 14 psi car with 8.5 to 1... This isn't a spefic car I'm talking about, its an exsamble..

There are ways to get around knock..
1) new pistons = at least $500 a lot of work.
2) MASSIVE timing retard, resulting in a lot lower power.
3) race gas; its not pratical @ $4.00 a gallon
4) alcoy/water injection; it will only get you so far.$400
5) a $53.00 copper SCE reusable Hgasket from summit.
6) or you can run lower boost and loose...

I'd think a D16A6 with a thicker head gasket, 92-95 Vtec head, water/alcoy injection, MSD boost timing retard, and an V-AFC could run 15-16 PSI without knock ? How much power would that put down, in theroy of course ? Would the D16A6 be able to support that kinda power without breaking from the shear power ( most boosted honda die b/c of knock.

I hate neons !!! 280 FWHP !!! Thats sweet, just like the miata, you can't argue with the power they make turbocharged, even if you dislike the car... More power to you neon man ( not like you need it )...

If you want to use the SCE copper head gaskets you are looking at another additonal 500 bucks, since you HAVE to o-ring your block or head (or both)

I'd hate to have your machinist !! I know two different places in Tampa that will o-ring 2 V8 heads for $100 total.. So $50 for a civic head, bring the total to $104, plus shipping...

But your right, I forgot about that, whole O-ring deal.

If not use the stackable Mr. gasket deals, but they run $120+ I think. I hate Mr. Gaskets tec service, I spent like 30 minutes explainng the mini-me swap, and that the vtec head was going on an old civic ( typed like 20 lines !! ). When I get a reply, it said,"we do not make a product for that car at this time". THATS IT !!!! I just wanted a price anyway, but they didn't even tell me the price of the D-series gaskets !!

lol, its a piece of cake on a v8. Stock honda sleeves are made out of 2 different metals, so its difficult to cut. Plus you have to use a special boring bar for it. I had 4 different quotes all in that range. Plus that included the o-rings that have to be hand filled to each cylinder.

But than again that is for the block..

The head could be a different story.. its best to cut a grove in the head and block to make a receiver grove.

i don't think you need to o ring the block for all thicker gaskets. isn't there someone on here with a stock engine and a 2mm head gasket

No, you have to when using a copper gasket..

Their is no seal (ring) around the cylinders.

Ok, either way, just use the Mr. gasket deal...

My stealth has a closed deck, so I didn't even think about that when I was looking for copper gaskets for it... I didn't even think about the honda having an open deck, but anyway, just use the Mr. Gasket for $120.00+, still on 2/5 of the price of pistons and about 100x less work...
