open dump ???????
ok so i just finished my turbo project14b in a dohc zc and did an open dump to find that the bushing on the wast gate flap pushed out and was pretty loud...fixed that and still have a little noise comeing from the dump i do have 2 small cracks on the dump they are really small.i still have the noise like the dump is open its not as bad as it was but im just worried about it im new to the turbo stuff.....

Well, you might still be losing some pressure through those cracks but if it's still working I would just run it for now and look into gettin a new wastegate. :P

Lol...the 14b is an internally gated turbo. I'm guessing that you made it so you have an open dump tube coming off the stock gate, which is fine. But just so you know, 14b's have a tendency to crack at the stock flapper, so that's probably the noise you're hearing, or the flapper isn't seating all the way. If you wanted to get rid of the stock gate completely, why not just weld the stock one over, remove the flapper, and get a tial external gate (or similar egay style) and add it onto your manifold? Not a hard thing to do, and you'd have much more adjustability over the stock gate.
