Don't know what that was all about. ??? :P

That's not all that ghetto. Yeah, the parts are cheap, but it looks like you spent good quality workmanship in putting it together. Still the most ghetto of all setups was Danny's (jbwelder). He was hacking up is cross member with a grinder and had his oil pan off, shooting the sparks right into his rods/crank/girdle. We got there to help with the install and he was puzzled when we asked what he was using for "fuel management". lol. He said, "I didn't know I needed that" lol.

Don't wanna post pics of the car... Last tuesday I came home and found it on the next street over with two guys chaining it up to a ford ranger... me and my boy chased them around town while I was on the phone with the police... after 20mins of not seeing any kinda po's (when usually I can't get away from them), one finally emerged out the shadows and got them... Kinda reminded me of jbwelder, how as soon as his car got turbo'd they stold it...

Re:One of the most Ghetto, Homemade Turbo Setups Ever (56K Warning)

yea... i've seen a few mounted down there, but I don't see how that gets any air either unless u have a mugen kit or something... also, this turbo kit was built strictly for the purpose of me selling this car as a "Turbo CRX"... It cost me about $200 and took a good 2 days to put together...

Re:One of the most Ghetto, Homemade Turbo Setups Ever (56K Warning)

well... i just got back from driving it :'( ... jbweld didn't hold too well... the bov blew off the intercooler... and the turbo smokes at idle... but not while going... o well... I will probably just run it with no intercooler and use a little gay mx6 blow off valve I have...

Dr.Boost 04-30-2004 04:43 PM

Re:One of the most Ghetto, Homemade Turbo Setups Ever (56K Warning)

Well, you didn't exactly do a MPFI conversion, just picking on you. ;)

It is doing something. Its soaking up all the heat created by the turbo :P.I hate those things.
Otherwise nice setup.

NEW SETUP

well... i ditched that gay ass intercooler, and threw on a blow off valve I had sitting around from a turbo mazda...

http://www.hondaswap.com/gallery/ima...30b7e15fa5.jpg

I like the setup better this way... I clocked the turbo now I'm boosting at 10psi (on stock injectors :o), so tomorrow I'll head down and get a carb spring...

now thats ghetto :D
but dosent look too bad

91civicZ6 05-01-2004 11:38 AM

Re:One of the most Ghetto, Homemade Turbo Setups Ever (56K Warning)

10psi on stock injectors is good for like 2 days before you blow it up due to running VERY lean.

::)

you dont even have an FMU to raise fuel pressure... stock fuel pressure with stock injectors running boost code for 240cc injectors with uberdata? i didnt know there was boost code for stock injectors...

Re:One of the most Ghetto, Homemade Turbo Setups Ever (56K Warning)

haha... nah... it stopped smoking for some reason (maybe because the turbo hadn't been used in a couple of years???). I get uptight boosting 10-11psi on my intercooled civic w/ 345cc injectors, no way I would run my car like that. As soon as I saw it was boosting at 10pounds, I parked it... I'm going to get a carb spring today. Even if I were using bigger injectors, I wouldn't boost 10psi due to the fact that there's no intercooler.

Finished setup:

http://www.hondaswap.com/gallery/ima...46e1d13894.jpg

put my $.99 carb spring in (interesting to say the least). Gonna test it tommorrow... hopefully I'll have a solid 6psi.
