oil restrictor?
i have a 60/63 t3 on my z6 and after hard boost run i get a little blue smoke. normal driving and even getting on it into traffic isnt an issue, only after a hard pull. i was thinking of putting an oil restrictor in. i dont want some big valve being an eyesore so i am going to tap my oil fitting, put a set screw in and drill a whole in that. does anyone know what size hole to drill. everything i have read says .065". i just want to make sure before i ruin this turbo. a rebuild is in the works, but im not ready yet

Re: oil restrictor?
1/16 inch is good.
Ive had pretty good luck with taking the fitting that goes into the turbo, putting a screw in one end (to block it off temp) and filling the fitting with solder, then removing the screw and drillng 1/16 thru the solder. Instant restrictor.

Re: oil restrictor?
I have the exact same turbo and I used a 1/16" orifice. I took an 1/8" to -4an adapter and tapped it like you were saying, drilled the hole in the set screw and screwed it in. I also used threadlocker to make sure it doesn't back out.

Re: oil restrictor?
i have a tap and die set and plenty of screws. i can do my method for free too.
i am mostly worried about the size of the whole to drill. i dont want to startve my turbo of oil and i dont want the restrictor to be pointless

Re: oil restrictor?
well on my z6 the .062 (1/16) on my turbo seems to be perfect i've been using it for a while now and it dont smoke at all. so i think i got it just right. pluss when i was searching around about it that was the most common size .060-.065 so i did a .062 and its perfect
