oil problem
i just recently turbo charged my civic with a homemade kit and i had it on for about 3 days and i took it down the interstate and it was fine for about 5mins, then i got on it alittle bit harder, im running 7psi on a stock d16y8, it started shooting oil from the valve cover breather, i either thought it was the head gasket or the piston rings but im not sure does anyone know??

Re:oil problem
alot of oil came out, during when it was happening my car sounded like a wrx with a exhaust, there was no smoke or anything it looked like there was alittle bit of smoke in the dip stick hole

Re:oil problem
damn.. ive heard of this ---- happening.... in some cases it blows your dipstick right out
|
Re:oil problem
ya if its alot it sounds like blow by.
|
Re:oil problem
whats causing it if its blow by?
|
Re:oil problem
bad rings. It means that when your spark plug fires some of the pressure gets forced by a bad ring and into your crank case creating pressure that finds a way out. The only ways out are the dip stick and valve cover.
Open the oil cap and look for bubbles in the oil right after u turn it off. could also try a compression test/ leak down test. |
Re:oil problem
thanks for the help
