oil feed/return line questions
ok guys.....ive read a lot of the info in the FAQ regarding oil feed/return lines...and im still confused. all the things ive read involve AN fittings and braided stainless line....frankly that ---- is to expensive for me right now... is there a cheaper way to plumb all the oil lines? if so, can someone please list all the fittings and lines that i'd need?
i appreciate any help thanks! -Clayton |

Re:oil feed/return line questions
The only confusing part about oil lines is the names of the fittings and hose sizes (an-4/npt/bspt/ect..) It's hard to explain. I don't even know if I could word it to where it would make sense. :-\

Re:oil feed/return line questions
why explain when you can just draw pictures???
I can explain some of it. NPT is your general thread pattern. BSPT is the ---- they use. kind goes w/ the metric system i believe. -3AN...basically its a 45 degree fitting of a 1/8" NPT...if that makes any sense. -4AN=1/4" and so on.. Basically my picture tells you exactly what you need for a feed line. the only thing is the last adapter to the turbo might need to be a -3AN->1/4" NPT. Other than that its not rocket surgery. |
Re:oil feed/return line questions
an-4 is the size (thickness) of the hose
npt= thread size (compare to standard tools) bspt= thread size (compare to metric tools) |
Re:oil feed/return line questions
an-4 just happens to fit perfectly w/ 1/4" and an-3 just happens to fit perfectly w/ 1/8" :P
Feedline Kit: 1-1/8" BSPT Male to 1/8" NPT Female 1-1/8" NPT Street Tee http://www.fastenerhut.com/catalog/i...street_tee.gif 1- 1/8" Thinger http://www.fastenerhut.com/catalog/i..._connector.gif 1- -3AN SS hose 1- 1/8" NPT male to 1/8" or 1/4" SAE 45 Degree Flare http://www.fastenerhut.com/catalog/i...male_elbow.gif |
Re:oil feed/return line questions
----, and that's just the feed line. (somewhat)
This is why I try not to explain it. :-\ Even if he figures that out, he'll still need a drain line. I don't know which one is more complicated. ;) |
Re:oil feed/return line questions
why don't you just buy one of those pimp ass feed/drain kits that were going this site awhile back? forgot who was selling them but it was alot easier then trying to figure out what npt/bspt/wtf/-4an fittings you need.

Re:oil feed/return line questions
I agree. Just get the kit from stealthmodeperformance@yahoo.com
All this for $80 shipped http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...4/fa230af2.jpg Mad Props SteveO! |
Re:oil feed/return line questions
does the "stealthmode kit" have everything thats necessary for the feed and return lines...no trips to autozone right?
|
Re:oil feed/return line questions
I haven't installed it yet but even if you have to go to Autozone, it won't be for much. Try pricing everything in the kit individually!

Re:oil feed/return line questions
Only one problem, I don't have any block fittings right now, and I don't know when they're coming. (Supply and demand is killing me) ;)
|
Re:oil feed/return line questions
son of a bitch bastard.... ok so i want one of the kits... butttt.. stealthmode: do you have any ready to ship ( well i guess not according to what you said) so when will they be ready?? .. and if i go good ---- on the oil lines.. i'll have to use my exhisting 2.25 inch exhaust... oh well i guess. anyway
stealthmode.... whats the deal bro? -Clayton |
Re:oil feed/return line questions
I'm just waiting on the block fittings. I'm also redoing the kit to get rid of the big 45, include the drain flange from the turbo, and include a barbed fitting for the drain flange, and a barbed fitting for the block.
The barbed fittings are too easy to use to be spending the majority of my cost on that 45. That 45 will never give anyone problems, but it's difficult to put together for the user, and I'm trying to cut that cost so I can add the drain flange without much of a price increase to you guys. As soon as I get those block fittings I can do this. Maybe this week, maybe next. I hate it when things are out of my hands. :P |
Re:oil feed/return line questions

Ok, I'll let you know if anything changes. ;)

Re:oil feed/return line questions
dood every turbo is different. when your doing a turbo app your gonna need to goto autozone for loads of bolts, ---- etc..
i mean u need to drill the oil pan to put the bulkhead fitting in.. |
Re:oil feed/return line questions
yeah i know...oh yeah. speaking of oilpan... does the fitting have to be welded in? or are you guys drilling and tapping a hole and screwing the fitting in??
-Clayton |
Re:oil feed/return line questions
I know it doesn't sound "professional", but drilling the hole in the pan and jb welding it into place works like a charm. And if your not a sloppy ass, it doesn't look bad either. :P

Re:oil feed/return line questions
yeah man.. thats what6 i was thinking too.. but i didint wanna sound TOOO ghetto.... lemme know when you get thos fittings.. im still waiting..

Re:oil feed/return line questions
Stealth... I need your kit too for D16Z6(Canadian if that makes a diff?) to the T25? could you message me when that is ready....got the cash waiting. thanks
|
Re:oil feed/return line questions
Can anyone quickly tell me, what kind of fitting is needed to connect to a D16 Block? The rest of the feed/drain line is clear to me, just need to know how to start at the block.

Re:oil feed/return line questions
the tuner toyz T-fitting. it has a 1/8BSPT male. the block (where the oil press sender is) is a 1/8BSPT female.
that oil line kit has everything from the block to the turbo, and from the turbo to the oil pan (drain line). the only thing you might need (hell, it might even be in the kit) is some thread lock or plumbers tape. |
Re:oil feed/return line questions
THX! :)
|
Re:oil feed/return line questions
Wait.....I allways thought the oil pressure sensor has an NPTF type?? Is it for sure a BSPT?
|
Re:oil feed/return line questions
Ok. I've now worked through ton's of posts on Honda-Tech/Honda-Swap and now i definatly know that's it's an BSPT fitting. :)
