oil coolers
what oil coolers are the easiest to adapt to a custom civic turbo setup. I saw a starion oil cooler with lines for 40 bucks, should i go with that? Or buy a brand new one?
also i thought the oil return from the cooler should go to the turbo or the input from the turbo. cooler turbo or cooler returned oil? thanks! |
Re:oil coolers
RX7s have fairly lagre oil coolers and theres about 387 of them at every junk yard.

Re:oil coolers
Would it be smart to just run one inline with the turbo intake or drain oil line?
I have a custom turbo on my eclipse, Most of the oil coolers that I have seen connect directly to the block. Nick 97RS Custom IHI Turbo Stage2 |
Re:oil coolers
i think before the turbo line would be ok just cause on hondas you tend to run more oil pressure than the turbo needs, but i might be wrong

Re:oil coolers
make sure you get an oil cooler tho not a tranny cooler cause im pretty sure the oil can t take the pressure of the tranny cooler

Re:oil coolers
err
you can use a tranny cooler. i've got one i'm gunna use off my chevelle. it cooled a turbo hydrolic 400. i'm gunna zip tie it to the radiator and have the oil return from the turbo go straight to the cooler then out the cooler to the oil pan. zip ties work really good anyways, right now its zip tied to the radiator in my chevelle and nothings happend. Re:oil coolers
hmm ya on return it should be fine but i don think you can send high PSi thru a tranny cooler. Would that not be enough flow fo the gravity feed oil drain off turbo?
how do i tell if i have a trany or oil cooler? All i know is its new and small |
Re:oil coolers
they are pretty much the same thing.
you should be just fine cooling the oil after it leaves the turbo. you would avoid a lot of hassle. Johnny |
