Default not boosting like it should

I got the setup on last week and finally got the fuel pressure and timing good enough I think but the car idles at around 500 rpm cold and goes dead or almost dead when I'm driving it and then come to a stop like a red light or somewhere that I have to push in the clutch. When I'm driving it and get to 4k rpm my boost gauge goes to 0 lbs.and I can hear it start to spool up but only hits one psi and thats after about 5-5500 rpm.I've already checked for vaccum leaks but the only place I can think of is around where the MAP sensor goes on the manifold.I put a plastic connector in the hole in the manifold and ran a hose to the MAP sensor--putting one check valve in between. It may be leaking around the plastic connector in the manifold.Any advice on this or the idle?

yeah, if your using the AFC you don't use check valves. that could be your problem.

I'm only using the one check valve between the MAP sensor and the manifold right now for a few days until the missing link I orderd comes in.I have a 12:1 Vortech fmu and a AEM fpr.I was told I didn't need the fpr for only 7psi max so it's set at about 35 lbs. of pressure which is stock ( i heard 32-36). So basically all I have is the fmu.I was told that I may have too much piping ran without an intercooler and that may be one reason why it's not boosting right.I got the fuel pressure set right so it's not smoking all the time like it was when it was running too rich but it still smokes pretty bad just after I let off when the 1-2 lbs. hits.I just don't get why the boost isn't coming in sooner than 5k.

I forgot to say also that a mechanic told me that the low idle may be caused by the IAC valve ( idle air control). He said it may not be opening properly to let the right amount of air into the manifold during idle.

Is your wastegate stuck open maybe?

check for exhaust leaks before the turbo. a small leak can be bad for spooling up.

how would you know if your wastegate is stuck open? i am having the same problem-- no boost at all.

i can clearly hear the turbo [reg/ ole' t3 48/63] starting to spool right before 3 grand [integra b18a1], but i see no boost. my gauge reads 0 vac.

anything i should look out for in particular?

would loose bolts on the turbo cause this no-boost condition? cuz before the turbo went in, i was able to move it, and i was able to only tighten 3 of the 5 bolts.

thanks,
R.Galvan.

I also am having this problem. I have the fmu 12:1 and i just cant build any boost and the engine just kinda dogs down from 3000 rpms and up. Could this problem be because i dont have a missing link??

if your not building boost the problems could be: wastegate not closing(open all the time) or charge pipe disconnected.

a check valve wouldnt stop boost, the turbo dosent depend on anything to build boost but exhaust gas. as long as exhaust goes into the turbo (not out the wastegate) and the charge air goes into the intake it will boost. rember the car must be under load to boost, ie full throttle and rolling, not revving.

i have crappy idles b/c my throttle cable is jacked up, if i do a full throttle burst it sticks sometimes and sometimes goes slack, its a bitch *** im gonna have to get a new cable i can see that this one is a little frayed.
