Default Noobish question about gapping

I turboed my B16a, and i keep hearing people on here talk about thier sparkplugs being gapped to 30 or 32 when they run turbo....

What does this do for the motor when you turbo? And is it neccesary.......

Sometimes the spark can't jump the gap in a turbo situation. With the extra fuel/ air there is more resistance in the gap. Closing it a little makes the spark more likely to fire, or just hotter if it is firing already. It's not free though, a smaller gap creates a smaller spark and less fuel is evolved in the initial flame front. Just don't over do it.
