Default Noob here sharing my project(90 turbo crx)

Whats up guys. I have been lurking for a while. Well just thought I would finally make a thread and share my project. I picked this car up about a month ago for $2500 off ebay. Car has a b18a1, garret T3 .48 a/r turbo, omni coilovers, momo steering wheels, unknown manni?, gay *** fmu, and hks bov. The guy I got the car off knew nothing of it. He got it off his buddy, and didn't know much about turbo cars. They rigged up the bov with some coolant hose wtf? I was told there is some prelude injectors in the car. At this point it runs like ***, and I refuse to drive it with a fmu. How much hp can a t3 .48 make? Anyone have an idea what manni this is? As of right my plans are dsm 450's, obd0-1 conversion harness and chipped ecu running crome. I also want to make some new intercooler pipes. The car will be painted shortly. It's a project in the making I'm in between changing to a new job and paying off medical bills from a drunk driver hitting me on my motorcycle Hopefully the car will be painted and done by May. Well here's some pics.

I'd say you didn't do too bad getting it for $2500, but it is thrashed on. I vote part it out and start over with a fresh unmolested one. IB you could easily get your $2500 back parting it out if not a bit more and then you could get a 100% stock one and start with a good platform instead of someone else's hacked project. I'm not saying this to be a dick at all, trust me, I learned the hard way too, but IMO you'll be much happier starting with something that you can know what's been done to it and that doesn't have damage to 70% of the body. Just a thought.

There's really not much to be done. The body is not in bad shape. The hood is bent and windshield is cracked because of the ricer hood pins the guy had. The things kept working there self loose. I was out driving it around and the hood popped up when the pins worked there self loose. The one quarter needs fixed a lil but thats it. I have all the interior pieces. The paint and body work is only costing about 400 bucks. My gf's dad is a painter. It won't cost me much to fix the car. The interior is immaculate and the under body looks real clean. I'm not getting rid of this one. Most of the crx's in Indiana are rusted all to hell. If the motor would blow up after I fix everything that just means forged internals

Where are you at in Indiana? Judging by your username probably Indianapolis.

You're lucky that manifold hasn't fallen apart yet. That's the biggest flaw I can see in the kit next to the FMU.

That T3 looks pretty small so I wouldn't shoot for much more than 200 or so whp out of it on like 10-15psi.

Would your girlfriend's dad be interested in painting my CRX too? I might need somebody to paint my car if the local shops are all on bullshit.

first thing to do is to replace the manifold.
id also get some silicone couplers, and some t bolts.
ditch the fmu and get your ecu chipped. if you dont your running on a ticking timebomb.
im assuming since you have an fmu your also gonna need some dsm 450's which you can get for around $40.
turbo looks ok if it doesnt have too much shaft play. dont expect too much top-end out of it but it should spool fast.
last but most importantly, get a good tune. dont worry about the body blemishes.

Is the manni that ssac ----? Thats what I thought it looked like. I was planning on ordering or possibly building a new one. Yes the fmu def has to go. I think I will get rid of the t3 and grab something bigger. I would like 2-275hp. I was wondering about the t3 because I would like to through it on my del sol. Im completely redoing the intercooler piping the guy did them really ghetto, and I know there has to be some leaks. About the paint Idk he is hooking me up since I'm her bf Idk what he normally charges.

If you have a decent welder you can build your own solid manifold with some elbows, a head flange, and a turbo flange. You'll save alot of money if you build one yourself, but having the equipment and skill to do it is what most people don't have.

If you're looking for 275 the .42 .48 won't cut it.

Overall, looks like a solid crx that just needs some TLC. Save that rex!

If you wanna ditch the FMU sell it to me for cheap I could use one for a temp solution till I get my ECU chipped and other ---- straight.
