yep.. and it should be almost instant. The reason you have vaccum normally is because the throttle is shut. its possible your throttle is not opening all the way.. Check to see if it is. The reason you would see boost in the higher gears is your probably have more boost.

What turbo are you running? How much boost does it pull in second? How fast are you going through first? its possible it can't spool in time.

td05-3 in secound i get the full 6psi. I had 14b (td05h) on their the other day i think the a/r on that .41 or .48 and i had the same problem. it's moving throught th vac like boost. I thought the change from vac to boost was supposed to be split second?

The change from vac to 0 boost is split second.. it then take a sec to build boost.. Depending on what rpm your at and what gear.. If your in third or fourth at a cruise and just hit the gas what rpm will you be in full boost and when will it start to build.

Do you hear any leaks? The fact that it builds in second makes me think you don't have a leak. Is the td05-3 a big turbo? I'm out for the weekend.. Hopefully someone else can help you figure it out by monday.

yeah it's got a bigger compressor blade but the same exhaust blade as the 14b. Could it be my large intercooler maybe pressure drop?

My turbo doesn't spool in first either, if it does its not for very long. My trans is very shortly geared and my turbo is a little large for my application. I also can hear the BOV go off without hitting boost, if I shift at about 4500rpms I'll be at just before the end of vacuum and the BOV will hiss.
