Default Newb: Whats the best turbo kit for my car?!

Naw just ------ around with the whole annoying "best turbo kit for my car" BS. Although i do like what some of the things you guys tell those that dont search though

Anyways, been floating around HMT picking up tips to boosting whatever car falls in my hands.

Sorry guys. No **** here. Not on my comp at the moment so yea I fail there.

First build: 91 DA with all ebay parts AND $50(and some change) paint job

[IMG][/IMG]

91 Teg:
stock b18a with arp head bolts
chipped ecu running turbo edit with dsm 450's
ssauto mani(no cracks) and ebay t3/t04e turbo 57 trim to 12(15psi spike at most)
ran great. fucked up the timing on the car and just sold it as is.

New project:
No pics but its a 96 Integra LS with just reached 200k miles

Already pickin up parts for the next build:
-Chipped p06 ecu with obd2a to obd1 conversion harness($70)
-Cast mani(traded for a steel rim with tire)
-Volvo t3 .42/.48 50 trim turbo with weird t3 flange with volvo manifold($6
-Ebay FMIC($40 picked up local)

Not looking to be pushing a lot. I know the turbo will at least take me to 225-275hp which will be fine with me.

Right now i have less than $200 in the setup which isnt bad since they're the bigger things in a setup. Hopefully not gonna be spending more than $600 but yea its all about the hunt.

I know some people are gonna say the b18 will outperform the turbo and im looking to upgrade maybe just the compressor housing to a .60 a/r. What would i need to do that? Would i need to upgrade the wheel as well as the compressor housing? Not really sure on that but maybe someone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks

The wheel and housing would have to both be upgraded, but that .42 a/r exhaust won't really do much for backpressure either. I wouldn't personally want anything smaller than a .48 a/r exhaust.

hmmm maybe im confused on how to read the turbo...

on the exhaust housing it says .48 a/r and on the compressor/coldside(not really sure what they call it) it says .42...

would that make the exhaust housing a .42 and the compressor housing a
.48? or is it read how its stamped? can someone clear this up for me real quick? i think im making it harder than it is.

Yeah you got it right. Your compressor is a .42 and the turbine is a .48. On your stock motor you should be ok to have some fun with that thing. It will spool really early but don't expect a big top end pull. Play around with it for a while, learn all the ins and outs, then build a block and go to something much bigger.

yea i know what you mean. i was really looking to upgrade to something a little bigger like to a .48/.60 (not sure what trim i could run here, maybe a 60) but yea i've run that ebay 57 trim turbo and that was a blast but really didnt pull on it so much cause that was my first project car(and it was my only car to use so i didnt want to blow it up lol). now im looking for something for the street and this is something that fits the description. i know the turbos gonna end up falling flat on its face just before redline but i think i can live with it.

okay heres a question..

Im planning to make an adapter flange for this exhuast housing to bolt up to a regular t3 flange. If i were to make a flange but leave the gap there, would there big a signifcant decrease/interferance in airflow or would there be any decrease/interferance at all? im sure there would be but would it be something drastic? people have belt sanded the flange down smooth to make it flat but im just being lazy. let me know what you guys think.

As long as you dont have any exhaust leaks who cares. Your not going to be making much power with that thing anyway it's not a big deal.

Yeah sorry about that, I got the numbers switched around initially and for some reason I can't go back and edit my posts or replies.

*Ok, I guess they got the edit feature working now...sorta. You still can't go back to previous posts and change them, only the last one it seems.*
