I didnt read the whole thing but sounds like three cylinders. Check your inline resistors or box. If all that is good I would say one of your injectors are dead.

With a cel for spool solenoid, oil pressure switch, or vss the ecu will disable vtec. It won't hit a fuel cut and would still let it rev, only thing is you'll still be on the low cam and it just won't pull as hard into the top end. Could just be something as simple as ignition entering boost. D-series according to JD like less timing in boost than b-series, so I would suggest making a det can setup and listen for detonation as you hit your second gear load.

I don't know but my ecu did not disable vtec by itself. My car (b16a2) would hit a rev like limit at exactly 7500 every dang time in every dang gear...plus it had a cel for vtec pressure switch. After I troubleshooted with new solenoid, rewiring, then found out it was the ecu itself. After that I hit set fuel cut no problem and plus I hear vtec yo!

sound to me like bad turbo, maybe the blades arent spinning freely, that causes the engine not to get enough air and be rich. Thats the problem i have with my old turbo setup, was a headache for 2 months of extensive searching for the problem

Okay...update...I wired vtec...car runs great if I ease the throttle up through 3000 I can get to redline if keep it midway .If I floor it, it sounds like ignition kill right at around 3000...pop pop and rpms drop abruptly catapulting me into the winshield...then I shift and its fine, then the same againNo more CEL though!!!

Timing/fuel issues. Also gap down your plugs to around.028 if you're reaching over 8psi.

DOHC vtec's are different. That's why...p28 code lets it go regardless, pr3 and p30 code will limit the higher rpm (they also include a knock sensor into their code, p28 does not). It's pretty much just putting more abuse than necessary on a dohc vtec trying to rev to 8k on low cam anyway. :P

you could try Switching to crome and a p30 code based rom.

It could also be a clogged catalyitic converter.
Drop it down to .28 if you're going to hit over 8psi.
