Default New to turbo did search.. help..

hello guys.. im excited to build my first turbo.. i have a 94 gsr.. and just purchased a t3 turbo off a 85 volvo 240 dl.. i did a search and found out that it has some sort of weird opening and i would need a flange to correct the exhaust air from leaking out.. im not looking to make too much power.. maybe 300 hp max but ill be happy with 275.. i want to run all stock internals.. i have hondata already so i dont need a fmu... couple questions sorry that im a noob..any help would be awesome..

1. where can i get a flange to correct the weird opening on my turbo? or any other suggestions
2. do i need to upgrade my fuel pump and what size injectors should i get?
3. i do believe it has a internal wg with a 8psi spring correct?
4. has anyone used replica blow off valves that are on ebay (ex greddy ones that cost 30 bucks).. are they crap or decent
5. i have only a 900 dollar budget so what would anyone suggest..

1. Search for "adapter plates"?
2. Most people would suggest 450 injectors and a 255 Walbro. I don't know if they will support your HP goals.
3. If you don't know what an internal wastegate looks like, you're off to a terrible start.
4. No idea... Search for SSAC BOV
5. Save more money...

Since you suck at searching, see link below for the flange you are asking about.

http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/me...egory_Code=FLG

The DSM 450cc injectors and 255 LPH Walbro fuel pump will be good for your goals. There is a thread about wastegates only.

SEARCH AGAIN!!

That turbo is too small for a GSR.

1. where can i get a flange to correct the weird opening on my turbo? or any other suggestions
The bolt pattern is the correct t3 one but there's a funny round recess in the flange that will cause a huge leak with a standard t3 gasket. The HMT way out is: You weld in the round opening and then grind it flat again on the belt sander so the flange becomes a standard t3 one.

2. do i need to upgrade my fuel pump and what size injectors should i get?
No you don'T need to upgrade the pump for 6-9 psi on a stocker and any injectors between 450 and 550 ccm will do the job.

3. i do believe it has a internal wg with a 8psi spring correct?
Yes but since the wastegate is plugged to the compressor you'll actually get 2-3 psi less than the wastegate setting because of the IC pressure drop, which is a good boost setiing to start with anyway.

4. has anyone used replica blow off valves that are on ebay (ex greddy ones that cost 30 bucks).. are they crap or decent
Replica BOVS are ok but the greddy bov as advertised by greddy themselves is good for no more than 225 HP which you can exceed easily with a GSR so I would get a bigger BOV model, knock off or not.

5. i have only a 900 dollar budget so what would anyone suggest..
You are on the right way except that your turbo has to be a 0.63 a/r on a GSR (volvo T3's can be either 0.48 or 0.63 so you have to verify that) and that compressor, certainly a 50 trim 0.42 a/r is way too small and needs to be upgraded to a 60 trim 0.60 a/r at least.
Plus, even if you're on a budget, you should always rebuild a used turbo prior to re install it.

the turbo has been professionally rebuilt.. i believe the turbo is a 42/48.. so that turbo is way to small for my gsr?? what would happen if i still installed it.. i just got it for a real good deal

well here is a place for the flange, http://www.bmcrace.com/products/flanges/

my volvo turbo has an internal wastgate most do and it s set to 8psi, there should be a little tag on the turbo that tells you what model it is.

here is mine that i picked up for free.

Damn DMC you got cameras in my garage.......my setup is all jacked up right now because ---- everything isn't jiving together like it should.

To add to that Knucklehead.....test fit ---- as you go along and try your best to picture it on the car, if it doesn't look like it's going to fit it probably won't and the fab work to make it fit may not be what you want.
