New Member with a Question

Hello Everyone, I am new and want to turbocharge my car soon. I know what to look for when looking for a Turbo, I have looked at compressor maps and everything but I would like everyone's input on which Turbo to get for my application. I have a 1993 Honda Prelude; 2.3L Bored .20 over with aftermarket J.E Rods and Pistons, 10:1 c/r. Forged internals, Of course. My bottom end is built but my top end is pretty much stock, Next to some porting and polishing that was done to it and hte 3 angle valve job. The engine code is H23A1, For those who wanted to know the code. Okay... on to the Turbochargers that I have chosen. I want to do the DSM setup and know everything that needs to be done. I have done research before I joined. I found on Ebay; Td05H-20G with DSM Manifold for $600. I read up on the compressor maps for this one and I was also looking into the Td05H-16G( Big 16G if that is incorrect) I looked at that ones compressor maps as well. I am not the greatest at reading the maps and that is why I have come here. From my knowledge I think that I will be leaning towards the 20G because it doesn't get as heatsoaked as the 14B and it also has better flow and more CFM than the 16G. My plan is to run 8-10 or possibly 12Psi. I don't want the turbocharger to run out of air by the time I hit 7,200RPM. I pretty much would like something that has peak power around 6,000RPM but still has enough "Air Pressure" or flow to 7,200 RPM. Also, who has a 14B on their Prelude? Does anyone have a DSM setup? Preferably on a H23A1 Prelude. Could I also get Dyno charts. Your input is very welcome, that is why I have come here. Sorry for the whole paragraph.

Re: New Member with a Question

+ one on that ---- all of those turbos are too small for your 2.3 you would be dissapointed.

Re: New Member with a Question

i concur,
your engine, with that kind of work on it, can certainly support more power than a big 16g.
the big 16g would work rather good for a few psi, i'm sure, but you'll see the end of it rapidly and when it's maxxed out, switching to a larger turbo such as a gt or t31/T04 will require redoing manifold, downpipe, wastegate and pretty much all other conections around the turbo because the big 16g is Odd .
if you get a t3 flanged manifold + ext WG, you'll be able to switch turbos easily and cheaply as your project evolves.

Re: New Member with a Question

Would you suggest I stay away from the whole DSM setup? I would like to keep the money to a minimum, I am not cheap but I'd rather not spend thousands more into the car. So what type of setup would you suggest? I am open to everyones suggestions as I am here to learn. Remember that I technically have a 2.4L and my compression ratio is next to stock. Stock is 9.8:1 and I have 10:1. Thanks for all the help. I would also like some insight as to how I read the compressor maps. Also, when do you think the 16G would run out of breath? Same with the 20G; running out of breath I mean. I prefer internal wastegate so there is less to mess around with. That equals less cost.

Re: New Member with a Question

Hey it's HMT, you can do anything but my call is: That's a nice engine. I would never retrofit dsm stuff on that.
oh and forget about internal wastegate. They work ok only for the hp they were designed for. You're 100x better with an external wg, even a knock off one.

I suggest you post some ------- porn of your mom...... sister or second (female) cousin... Perrhaps all locked together in a coke fueled lesbian dildo ass pounding session...

You might get some sort of input at that point, as thus at the current time you have failed in a most spectacularly queer faggot fashion.

PORN NOW ------.....

I figured that for the price of the whole HMT that it would be alright. I would just like to keep it simple. Thanks BLAAST. Also, Last I checked, this wasn't a pornography site. Lol. BLAAST; could you please suggest a setup for me? One that would work well, seeing how you know what you are talking about. I just don't want to spend much more than $1200 for an entire setup. Call me cheap but that is why I came to this site. I have heard lots about it and thought I would check it out.

Re: New Member with a Question

so you spend that money on a bottom and and you are goin to cheap out on the setup. when the setup you are planning to run could have been run on the stock bottom end. those turbos will fizzle out WAY to soon on that motor. i mean you can still do it for 1200 with our suggestions. look into a holset. from a dodge cummins. and a cast mani or make your own. you would be stupid to put a dsm setup on it. becuz someday you will want to update it and waste even more money. its just how it does. and with the c/r you are at would just ---- you even more on those dsm turbos.
