it doesnt make sense that you can hear the wastegate and your boost is still climbing. To me if you can hear it dumping exhaust, its keeping the turbo from spooling. If he put boost cut at 17psi, and your boosting up that high, it IS going to work ???

"I have tried just going about a 1/4 throttle into vtec then nailing the throttle as soon as the boost hits 10psi you hear the wastegate open and it bogs and cuts and sputters."

i dont get this, at 1/4 throttle your making 10psi?? just leave it at 17 and take the boost cut off.

I will be doing a compression test and posting pics of the new mani tonight I will keep you guys updated on results

yeah those drag manis suck ass. Got pics of your setup? are you sure youre wastegate is good? If the diaphram is leaky or damaged that might explain your boost problems. Ive popped internal wastegate diaphrams before, and josh (hotrex) has blown externals as well as a few guys on here, so that might be your best bet. Id try and substitute one for the one you have on there, if nothing changes, sell one of them, if it fixes it, shitcan that other gate.

it's a new built motor, I very much doubt the valve seals. I'm thinking turbo or he is getting blowby and just needs to run a catch can.

Sounds like it wasn't tuned for 17 psi and the ring lands ---- out.

There that is the new mani and I did the compression test today. It was about 130 all the way across. At first I thought it was low but then relized that the low compression pistons should drop it a little bit. Figured out the boost problem too it was a faulty boost controller! :1 But it is running alot better.

9:1 compression should be higher than 130 psi. I think something else might be wrong, sounds like you might getting a good bit of blowby.

What is a good number to look for on low compression pistons? None of the other stuff in the motor would effect the compression right? So what is the "ideal" numbers?

130 is below 8.5:1 ... did you have the pedal to the floor while doing the test? And honestly, if the numbers are all close to each other, I wouldn't worry much.

Really though, when your WG opens... things should drop. Is that Line to the WG that I see coming right off the compressor housing? and going to the correct port on the WG? Its not run to the top port and holding the WG closed is it?

That gate also looks like a DeltaGate?(aka: deltacreep)... they seem to have boost controlling issues on some peoples setups.
