new here - just got a holset H1C

first things first - hi to all - im new here but not new to boost. I drive a 1990 240 with a sr20det (late model AKA black top/180sx). been running a T28 for a while now and i decided to buy a holset H1C.

just wondering if i can change the exhaust side with one from a regular T3? maybe a .63 or .82? i am worried that i wont be able to spool this big thing with the huge housing thats on it now (id like to see full boost by 4200).

I know a lot of you guys have B series motors that rev slightly higher than my motor - with less displacement -

so i guess i wanted to know where people are spooling the H1C's to 18psi and on what hot side?

i run short route piping on a T28 and i see 1bar prior to 3200rpm right now. mr davis, any experience with changing hot sides?

we have a F22B1 accord with a .50/.48 57 trim garrett with a 4 inch grooved housing... (makes 230whp@8psi and its at 11 now) would this turbo be better suited for that (it only revs to 6000 tho)

I doubt a t3 will just bolt right up.... I'd try it out first and see how you like it... those things love high boost

H1C's have a few different exhaust sides, I've got an 18cm^2, and am still looking for something smaller to run on a D-series.

The size should be cast somewhere into your exhaust side, if not Holset can get you specs if you give them the tag numbers.

my buddy has a HX35 and he had a mitsu housing on it (machined out) - it spools fast too....

is there a 9cm housing for a holset? or maybe i could use a 12cm from a hx35 or somethin?

I *think* there is a 12cm housing for the H1C, there could be a whole lot more I'm not really sure on the H1C.

Yes they make a few different housings go to bigdog performance they have the diesel stuff. The hci has a 1.0 housing hot side they have ones down to .70 i think those would work good for it..

Typically they're a T3 flange. You can adapt the HX35 turbine housings to the H1C. Do a google search for it.

you can buy the bullseye hx35 8cm housing and it bolts right up to the h1c i have one on my h1c and i start seeing boost at 2800 rpm they go for around $180.00 go to the bullseye website and go on the vendors you can get it internally gated or external..they also have it in stainless steell

i ordered the bullseye housing without a int gate for 170 plus shipping from theturbotrader.com

should be here soon i hope (few days) - ive already got a gate, manifold, and all i need are oil lines and i'll be good to go. gonna start out at 7psi - for a few days - then bang it up to 18. i'll break my new diff in on 7psi (doin figure 8's on 18psi smackin the revlimiter might be fun tho ;)
