new crackie-chan manifold

4 Attachment(s)
got my new $108 manifold, took some pics so you all could see the fine craftmenship :X

this is what sucks, i dont really have the tools to get all in deep and clean this up and im sorta worried its gona destroy my turbine wheel if any of this comes loose.. i did my best to break anything loose with a screwdriver.. then i dropped $2 at the car wash and pressure sprayed all the metal out of it, there was alot of metal pieces in there when i got it..

Attachment 26629

i was at the local turbo shop and he wanted to check it out, he asked who made it, i said its straight outta china, he advised against bracing it, said it would probly do more bad then good?

LOL Throw that in the trash. Those pieces are going to blow through your turbo and its going to be a jack-o-lantern when the manifold is cleaned out.

I agree or spend 2+ hpours with a heavy grinder and super duper carbides

a dremel aint gonna clean that mess up

---- and i sold my cast mani and paid $20 more for this one LOLLLOO!

i emailed them with a complaint and picture, maybe they will send me another free like they did with my wastegate that had one stripped bolt on the top hat thing

Re: new crackie-chan manifold

lol, should have kept the cast manifold.

Guy-Fast 06-07-2007 06:36 PM

Re: new crackie-chan manifold

Cast manifolds are the only china manifold people should buy plan and simple. To hand fab something takes skill and time

Neither is something that is taken into the equation in china.

Buy a log manifold or cast if you dont have the funds simple

LMAO, wow that looks liek ----. sad thing is i'de still rock it if i found one for cheap :S. i got an SSAC for dirt cheap brand new, had a friend retig weld it with some special rod and it worked great for a yeah and a half :-[

Re: new crackie-chan manifold

:-X Sorry, man. You start chipping away at that flux though and you might start seeing some cracks/leaks on then. Feel bad for ya, I know what that's like in a way. The one I got from Kevin (I don't recall) looking like that inside at all. Wish I had a pic or something to reference, but I don't remember seeing flux on the inside like that.

ya pretty gay, i might just let it rip at my $75 turbo and see what happens, or maybe they will send me another one thats not as shitty, they didnt hesitate to replace my wastegate now i have 2 and there both fine

Re: new crackie-chan manifold

I got mine (equal length) and it looks mint compared to that POS. Mind you, this is only temporary till I get some elbows and fab up my own out of sch 10 so I dont care if it cracks.

one of ssautochromes site google found, it was like 130 shipped i think, i seen someone on here runnin his on a 300hp ls so i figured what the hell, ill admit part of the reason i wanted it was it looks cool, it looks pretty crazy compared to the y7 precat cut off with a 14b welded to it im used to. ive seen a few expensive manifolds in person, obviously theres a visable differnce in quality but i dont really think this would have been that bad if the inside wasent all fucked, id have been happy if it lasted the summer

Scott-EP 06-08-2007 06:37 AM

Re: new crackie-chan manifold

that manifold on the ssauto site is $300. i did some searching and couldnt find it

Re: new crackie-chan manifold

$5 says it'll last about as long as the OneFab design it copies.

Yea, whatever happened to OneFab? I can't find their website. JK told me that this mani is a design copy from them, but could never find them anywhere online.

you suck at the internet.

i searched ssautochrome on google, clicked on the 1st site, turbo manifolds>honda> scroll most the way down its like the 3rd or 4th mani from the bottom

http://www.ssautochrome.com/level.itml/icOid/1349 $108

Re: new crackie-chan manifold

I wonder if you could get something like a wire wheel with a long flexible end on it and just run it in there...That should at least make sure nothing loose is gonna fall off. Or maybe take it to a shop that can clean it up if you cant find the tools

Scott-EP 06-08-2007 05:55 PM

Re: new crackie-chan manifold

the one for $108 is for b series. i need one for d. i wonder if i could just change the flange. does anyone know if the port spacing is the same

Re: new crackie-chan manifold

i was gona get one of those flexable extensions for my dremel and have at it when im bored, i found some off brand one with a ---- load of bits to wreck for 24 bucks

i know they make a d series version of that manifold pretty suer ive seen one

Re: new crackie-chan manifold

they do but its $300

Re: new crackie-chan manifold

well thats a rip. i guess line a b series mani up with your d and see how close, or gaskets, i think i have both layin around, ill line em up if i can find em

or just go the autoparts store and ask to see both then leave

Re: new crackie-chan manifold

i am changing the exhaust gasket on my friends b16 today. i will line his up with mine and see if i can make a b work on a d

No. It's not the same. Yes, they make them for D-Series.

i know they make them for d series but its $300. im not paying that much for an ssautoshit manifold

i checked a d series gasket up to a b series head and the port spacing is abuot 1/4 in off

Re: new crackie-chan manifold

Guys, be carefull with the ebay cast manifolds AS WELL.
IMO, they're no better than the SSAC !!
I recently purchased a cast one for a 7mgte and ----....
  • #1 i shaved off a handfull or impeller-crushing metal crumbles from inside the runners (those are called flashing, basically it'S the cast iron that leaks between the cracks of the mold inner cores during casting)
  • #2 the runner holes did not match those on the head, cyl #4 was off by half the size of the hole!!! AHAH!!! crap!

Scott-EP 08-01-2007 10:40 AM

Re: new crackie-chan manifold

damn.
wouldnt sandblasting eliminate problem #1?

the others i guess it depends on how bad the holes are off and how much material is there to gring on

fe3tcourier 08-01-2007 11:08 AM

Re: new crackie-chan manifold

i like the way it says ##%@ 304 on the inside.

whoever said its flux is so wrong. did they mean slag? slag is from arc/stick welding. the only two things hanging in there are large burrs from cutting of the tube (some chance of falling off depending on luck etc) and weld blobs (not so good for flow, but NOT going to fall off.)

a dremmel will tidy up the burrs well enough, and to be sure to be sure, blow a sand blaster through each runner. if ---- doesnt come off with that, a little "hot wind" wont pull it off either... it is s/s afterall. even if its chinese.

all thin walled manifolds should be braced imo. i'd love to hear the reasoning from the dude that said it would do more harm than good...

think about it... 1.6mm thin tube plus 6" leverage plus 10kg turbo plus lowered bump stopped honda plus any non perfect road = cracks. mild or stainless.

brace it, dremel the burrs, ignore the welds, sand blast the runners, and throw it on.

even if some of those bits come off and hit the turbine, they inconel is hard as ----, and will blend it as it passes through. the small loose bits will only fall off once. i personally think its unlikely that any will fall off. burrs like that tend to be thick next to the tube, and thinner out away from it...

summary, use it.

Re: new crackie-chan manifold

It would probably work just fine if it didn't get hot.....but wait a minute it's an exhaust manifold ;)

Hit it with a torch or something from the inside and I'd bet that ---- will roll out of the manifold like butter off a roll. I've got a cast B series manifold with a T3 flange and TiAL 38mm WG flange that will go for like $80 shipped.
