Jeff Frank

suposively to be able to boost up to 12psi you have to crank the afc to -32 or -33 because i tried mine somewhere in the 20's and with only 6.5lbs i threw the cel. so if you go wtih the apexi turn it to 34across the board and you will be ok, maybe with the fields it wont thow the cel at -30 across the board but like jeff said the apex has a wide range for fuel control unlike hte fields and the fields is a pain to work with

wow this is kinda neat

good discussion, I've been looking into getting the apexi vafc. Heard lots of bad things from people but no one first hand. Looking forward to that write up.

BTW GL with your build!

Chip your ECU and get your car tuned and you don't need any of that crap. I paid $285 for chipping and tuning at English Racing. Save yourself some money and headaches. I have a Z6 motor, T25 turbo, 450cc DSM injectors, tuned on Crome Pro. Done deal.. easy and runs like a champ.

vafc hack equal fail if you've even tryied to research this forum you woulda found out by now there wastes of time kinda like this thread all you've done is read a couple posts of other peoples setups on ht than went out and bought all the ---- and now you have no clue what your doing and are going to annoy everyone with your dumbass questions

Chip the ecu....

Lt. Dangle May 11, 2009 10:27 AM

Yes, chip the ecu. There are many more viable, and cheap options out there, as far as tuning than there were 5-6 years ago, when the SAFC II was popular.

Crome, Ectune, Hondata, Neptune, etc...

I'm a big fan of Ectune, it's features are badass, like the self programmable 2-step, the no lift shift, rev limiter, vtec engagement, etc...

Seriously, save yourself the money and hassle, and make more power, more reliably than you would with an AFC.

Actually safc 1 goes +/- 30% and safc 2 has the 50% adjustability, just for the info, but that seems weird you were getting a cel thrown at 8psi giving the ecu less than 3.0v.
