an 88 with big doors?? (no smokers window for you non-vw types) looks to be in great shape

swap a VR in there, its not very hard. prob on the same level as a b-series into a DPFI CRX/ED.

I thought it was just the diff on those that are weak. My cousins diff blew and then took out the rest of the tranny and left a nice peek-a-boo hole in it too. It's been sitting for three years now with a nice ACT clutch and NS supercharger that have 5 miles on it after the tranny went. Lazy bastard bought a shitty old S10 and 7g's on a 06 GSXR instead of a few bucks to get a new tranny for it.

tdi manis fit shitty and flow like ass. hand in hand with the tiny pos tdi turbos.

where its at is the audi 5k manifold modified by cutting and welding the 5th runner shut to use a k26 from a audi 5k or some of the old turbo porsches. or do what im doing and modify the audi 5k manifold and re-drill it to fit a t3.

the trannies arent THAT bad. they just suck a lot more than most.

I hate VW's. The bodies and suspension are flawless... it's the damn drivetrain they can't get right. The transmissions are slushboxes, the engines feel and sound lazy, the engines are designed to be the biggest pains in the ass (VR6 spark plug changes for instance), the intakes suck on them... what else?

Here's what you do first to wake it up... give it a G60 head or just put a G60 motor in it, supercharger and all.

i've got an '88 jetta with big doors, also the G60 s/c burns out too fast, and all you need is a rabbit GTI head or mkI jetta GLI head if your running an 8V anyway, bigger valves then stock

oh and i want that car :P looks mint

VRs in those take away alot of the handling. I wouldn't suggest putting a solid mount on the trans right away either. My buddy blew out 5 trannys in his 88GTi before he bought a 90 an put everything in it except for the trans an block. We're pointing the finger at the no give mounts he had in it, it was a blast with them in there, but damn did it go through trannys

The SC just needs the routine conditioning every 100k like every other SC.
