Wow. Im not a fan of merc's but yours is absolutley beautiful! Not bad at all!!! ;D

No doubt your engine will make the power, what sort of drivetrain issues do you expect to encounter? Will the trans hold up? What kind of tire are you planning to run?

Re: Need opinions

Thanx

We´ve run the stock trans at approx 500hp on slicks before.
This with a car in day to day use,to the letter used as a beater.
What we experienced was that as power and traction went up the oil got slushed backwards in the box,and as a result the input gear as well as 4th ran dry -which in essence made those gears eat each others alive.
We turned to the high end oil suppliers/makers for advice and they set us up.
What´s more we´ve both cooled and put a pump on the box to make it live and return oil in turn is sprayed back into the box...at the input gear.

The Getrag 275 box is fairly sturdy though.About the same dimensions as an old Muncie/BW S10 for a chevy back in the old days, just a more "german" design and more "german" materials. What´s more completely rollered and bearings at all ends of shafts.

Further out back we run the stock rear.Built like a friggin tank, and really intended for the heavier mercs.(The 16V cossies got all the heavy duty stuff right off the bat from the factory)

Weak point of the driveline is said to be the prop shaft-that carries some splines that are said to let go around the 10sec mark. We´ll see,and if that issue arises i´ll make a more sturdy one out of high end aluminium like 6086 or similar.

Axles....i´ve busted on occasion.
As long as they´re fresh though they can take a hell of a beating.
Again, should the need arise,a friend of mine that runs Nuke performance(company around here) makes axles out of a material by Uddeholm(again) called Orvar supreme.
Basicaly a high end spring steel that will take the heat.

Tires...new setup will be on a pair of MT 26*10.5*15 at the track.
