Need input for this turbo (PIC)

Today went to a yunkyard looking for a T3, and i found a turbo, looks like this one, is from a Mercedes 300 turbo diesel i think and is oil cooled only, also the wastegate came without arm, came in one piece with the turbo.

Any good?, also for $20 lol

For $20? Even if it's a piece of ----, you can always sell it for more :P

I'd pick it up if I were you.

EDIT: Wait, are you saying you already bought it? Either way... I say it's a deal for $20

Yeah the merced T3 with an integrated wastegate??

That's good!! It's just like having a real piston actuated external wastegate!!! but it's internal!

This turbo has another MAJOR advantage: it's has the usual 0.48/0.42 a/r but the turbine wheel is much more efficient than your average saab or ford T3 !! THe turbine wheel major size is the same as stage 3 wheel!! and the exducer is the same as stage one!! So you have a much Higher trim! THerefore, better response!

Oh... that compressor is a joke though.... Needs to be upgraded to 60 trim 0.60 a/r... but for 20$, it,s a good pick for sure!!

Just remember to feed it cool clean oil. Since its for a diesel it will need the extra cooling since gasoline engines tend to have a hotter exhaust.

it should look like this one.
Except this one had a t04b compressor installed.

Yes, that is the turbo, at how many psi are the wastegate set

Re: Need input for this turbo (PIC)

If its off a early 80's 300D or 300SD the waste gat should be set to 9 to 11 psi if it is in spec. Since it has aged its probably around 7 psi. You can adjust it if you can figure out how to get the darn retaining spring out.

here is a link showing how

Re: Need input for this turbo (PIC)

i have installed THAT mercedes turbine wheel in an overbored saab t3 housing and a 60 trim compressor on my focus 2.0 and that thing spools up like a 1.8 T !!! Much faster than a stage 1 wheel would.
