Not everybody runs thicker wiring to it, but if you do you can use the same relay.

Couldn't you just wire it the way the stock one was??? Maybe run thicker wires but not sure it is mandatory.

NO, that defeats the purpose... Run the Power wire to the battery (or the alt post), run 10 gauge - (dont forget a fuse) to the relay you ARE adding... and use the stock fuel wire (coming form the stock relay) to switch the added relay, and in effect turn on your pump (S)

cool.... that way it wont draw alot from the stock right?

Re: need help on wiring walbro fuel bump.

The curremnt drawn will be from either the alt post, or battery DIRECTLY... The stock lead will simply switch the new relay and allow the current to the pump (s)

so thanks.
so will it be ok just use the stock wire to trigger the relay and mount the relay near the pump and then run thicker pos & ground wires?

30A. Radioshack sells them, they're a few bucks. It's really super easy to do. Hack the stock wires off the plug end. Tie these to the relay trigger side. Run thicker wire directly from battery to transfer side of relay. Run a thicker wire from other transfer side to pump. Voila, thick wire feed being relayed to pump. Now just ground it on a seat bolt or something.

255HP in the tank and a 290 inline

Re: need help on wiring walbro fuel bump.

Ok, maybe this is a stupid question but when guys run 255's do they usually leave the stock pump in and just run the walbro inline?
