Need Help with my internal wastegate

Ok I just bought this turbo

http://www.bdsportcompact.com/turbo.JPG

the internal wasted gate is set around 10-12 ish, I want to run about 8. I dont want to buy an external wastegate and I can't change the length of the arm becuase there arent any threads, so my question is should I buy this?

Yeah with a nice die and a little work yiu can make that arm adjustable. Also don't be afraid of 11psi, its not as deadly as people make it out to be

Put washers between the bracket for the actuator and the turbo. It will bring the actuator closer to the wastegate and lower the boost.

I learned this recently. :P

Re: Need Help with my internal wastegate

wouldnt that shorten the rod?

Dr.Boost 03-05-2004 07:26 PM

Re: Need Help with my internal wastegate

No, shortening the rod will raise boost. Doing this will bring the entire assembly closer to the wastegate, which would leave the wastegate slightly open.

Just remember, when you use this method to lower boost, you will also increase spool time, which sucks. You are better off buying the appropriate actuator. :-\

i have a noob question to add to this. if i dont shorten my rod which is adjustable already would putting a mbc on my setup screwed all the way out just yield the lowest boost pressure the wastegate is set at?

Huh? Shortening would raise the boost, assuming it has room to be shortened. A MBC will not lower boost. I'm not real sure what you're asking. With the MBC set at the lowest possible point, the set rating will be what the actuator would run without the MBC, unless your MBC is fucked up or something. :-\
