I see countless t25's, 14b's etc with some hairline cracks and so on... If one were to buy.. could the cracks be remedied for fairly cheap?

Those lines and cracks are common to those turbos... its almost inherent you'll find them with fine lines and cracks in the exhaust housing. They will do ok despite those cracks as long as its not all the way through the exhaust housing.

So in a way, it's pointless to seal the fractures?

It's not pointless at all. having the cracks welded shut will prolong the life of that particular turbo. but it will be fine the way it is. most people who start on a small turbo like that usually upgrade before it becomes and issue.
