N.A.S.A paint for manifold ( don't laugh )
I was at a car show last mont and a guy there had a HB just like mine with a D16Z6 swap. I looked at his valve cover and it was painted like a flat black color. I said what did you use primer. His reply was " No... you won't belive what it is. You know the paint they use to paint the black tiles on the space shuttle. It's that " I called BS right off the bat. He said a guy got a hold of the stuff and paint his valve cover and sold it on E-Bay. The guy I was talking to didn't belive him but bought it anyway to see if it was true and after installing it found out he was telling the trueth. Once again I was still a non-believer and he said let me show you something. He started the car and let it run for about 15-20 minutes playing with the throttle to make it heat up faster. He then said " touch the valve cover ". I did thinking I was about to get 2nd-3rd degree burns and I did and it was cool slightly warm and no where near as hot as it should have been. I ask where to get the paint and he said he's been unable to find it.
I think this paint would be awsome to paint turbo manifolds , charge pipes , and turbos them selves ( if possible since I don't know if you can paint a turbo ) since turbos get soooooo hot. I'm sharing the idea and have been looking to try to get the paint since but have came up emtpy and I would call N.A.S.A but they probally laugh at me and think I'm a terrorist. My grandfather use to wokr for N.A.S.A. but has been retired for the last 10 yrs and still can't understand what I'm asking him What do you guys think ? This is true and I didn't belive it at first and thought the guy was the biggest bullsh**** but it was amazing how cool ( low temp. ) it was. Either that or he was lying and used some kind of super high temp paint.

I can see a problem with that though.
Valves cover, ok.. but your manifolds and the turbo itself. If you can't feel the heat doesnt mean its not there. It just can't get out. meaning things will be hotter inside.

True true... about that hot thing...
Im guessing its some kind of ceramic paint, as ceramic tolerates heat very well (ceramic tiles, ceramic clutch linning, bearings, spark plugs. etc etc)..
but if you go crazy and coat your turbo with that... then you run the risk of cooking the ---- out of it, sure the engine bay might be cooler but at what cost? turning your turbos internals into liquid ----, it might be good for certain key areas like the air compressor housing, downpipe, manifold you know stuff like that...
im guessing if you do find this paint.. it might be a bit on the expensive side.
Good luck!!!

I was gonna use a paint called chrome x which is like a chrome plating. First you paint whatever object, it's a high heat paint that is used on manifolds, then you put the painted part in a vibrahone. Which is a tub full of ceramic marbles that vibrate & polish the paint on the part till it's real shiny, they say it takes 30min to polish in the vibrating tub. I found this paint on the internet & wonder if anyones used it. It's at www.exhaustcoatings.com where they do the whole procedure for you. At NiC is where they sell the paint. You're suppose to bake the painted part at 500 degrees for an hour so the paint dries real hard.
Actually keeping heat in your exhaust ie. turbo, would not necessarily be a bad thing. Look at exhaust wrap. What does that do? Keeps the heat in your exhaust where it is more useful. I don't see why painting with that stuff would be bad at all. And if the paint holds up at temperatures when reentering the atmosphere, then I'm pretty sure it can hold up on a turbo manifold.
Just my 2 cents

ya i thought heat is what makes it spool. i bet it costs more than just buying the wrap or shield. like 30bucks or so? ive since swapped my stripped/painted cover for an oem wrinkle painted one and its a lot cooler.
anyways, my uncle used to engineer those tiles for them so im sure he'd have an idea.

first off i was to lazy to read all the other responses.
but any ways them tiles are not panted that is the color tey come out any paint whould just burn right off at them temps they get to. but there are pants thet disapate heat qukly.. s/p ?
