Are my Turbos oil seals blown, and whats next?
I have a SSAUTOSHIT t3/t4, well what happened is i put the turbo on, didnt have a oil pressure restrictor so there was 70 to 80 psi oil pressure going to the turbo for about a week. now i see where my BOV lets the air out, it leaves a oil residue. and my charge pipes have oil in them. IF oil blows passed the oil seals in a turbo if the turbo FUCKED?
its an SSAUTOCHODE, it was fucked to begin with, you might want to check for any major shaft play, before trying to correct the problem. too much shaft play = bearings are fucked....
check your oil drain, is it kinked, or at a bad angle where it wont drain properly? if thats the case correct it and install the restrictor valve and maybe it will live for another week... jk
i would just install a rebuild kit from a reputable company... im hinting those cheap chinese turbo's arent the best engineered parts in the world

question?
did you follow the start up directions like they told you in the paper you got with your turbo?
i'm sure if you didnt, this could have caused the problem. "possibly"
as stated from them..
"Hold the compressor wheel firmly with your hand to keep the shaft from spinning (There is no oil in your turbo at this point so it is vital that it does not spin!) Start the engine and let it idle for 40 seconds (to circulate oil) before releasing the compressor wheel."
ok where it says "hold compressor wheel with hand" DO NOT DO.. but wedge something in there. use your imagination
the paper should look like this..

this is what came with my t3/t04e

you didnt put a restrictor on the turbo, thats why it blew the seals out.
everyone that says ssac's turbo's are ---- are using YOU as an example, and in reality, a lot of the problems come from user installation error.
i say slap a restrictor on your oil supply and see what that does, whats the worse that could happen, the turbo is probably fucked now anyhow, but a $2 restrictor could help out.

I had a restictor valve on it, but i was waiting on my oil pressure gauges, to come in so, i wasnt sure what the oil psi i was to the turbo, and yes i follow the paper instructions that came with the turbo. I like this turbo, it was cheap and boosts pretty good. I was just wondering if once oil blows passed the seals in a turbo is it finished? turbo hasnt seized up yet, and no bad shaft play, but i see oil in my charge pipes, on the turbo air inlet, and where my bov blows the air. and i am worried about it getting all inside of my intake manifold and plentum, and possibly making it to the cylinders. right now no smoke out the tail pipe and oil return is a straight drain to the pan. been driving on it for about 2 weeks now and turbo is still boosting fine, as a matter of fact my tranny took a ---- on me and i blew a few bad seals out of the head when the motor saw 10lbs of boost. I call them ssautoshit cause i contacted the company about what rebuild kit is should use or where i can buy it and they said they have NO IDEA WHERE TO GET IT! how can you sell a turbo and have no tech support for it! they were also very rude and took them a week to respond to my email.
If i need a rebuild can i use just a standard t3/ t4 turbo rebuild kit?
thanks for the help fellas

well, there is a chance that the oil you are seeing is whats left from the original blow by.
try cleaning out ALL of your charge pipe and see if the oil returns.
dont worry about the oil making it to the cyl's at this point, because it would have done it already.
and NO, you canNOT use a standard rebuild kit. they are not t3 center sections. they are K26/K27 centers with T3 and T4 spec'd wheels and housings, but the center section is not a t3.
at this point, i say whatever damage you have done is done, if the shaft play is no different than when you first bought it, you might be lucky and not worn the bearings too much. just keep the restrictor on, clean the pipes and see if it comes back. if it does, you know its shot. if it doesnt, your fine, boost that bitch.

tight tight! i havent been able to drive the car that hard because my tranny ---- on me. when i put the tranny in ill clean all the charge pipes and well see what happens. Ill crank the boost up to 15lbs and see if what the turbo can do!! and is its trashed i found guy thats sells rebuilt t3/ t4's with warranty, ill buy on of those.
