My Turbo Project!
I need some suggestions. I putting a tv8101 t6 turbo rear mount on my 04 silverado with my 505 big block and t56.
Specs on the engine. 4.290 bore 4.370 stroke Cnc ported stock heads 2.19 1.88 zz502 camshaft hydraulic roller The duration at .050 224/234 Lift 527/544. Lobe centerline is 110 degrees. Stock intake at the moment with ls1 throttlebody 1"7/8's headers into 3 inch into a dual 3" flowmaster merge collector to a single 4 inch pipe I got an air to air intercooler and the turbo Plan on buying synapse wg and bov After that I am kinda lost. I know I need a suction pump to suck the oil back up to the motor I got a ton of questions. What size should the oil feed and return for the turbo be? What size pipe should i run into and out of turbo? I am thinking 4 inch in and out on the hot side and 3.5 on the cold side Should i blow thru the maf or just run speed density? Bov location? on the IC or near the throttle blades? I am sure more will come up! Thanks SPC Coss |

I found this article for rear mounted turbos. it might help.I would run it with a maf.hope this helps. I also got the book Maximum Boost by Corky Bell. It is a real good book o turbos ad there you will find a lot of useful info.

Thanks SPC Coss oil return will depend on your scavenge pump. the larger the hot side pipes the more lag. you dont want to go too large or small. i think 3" will be good for less lag without choking the exhaust system. the cold size i would use 3" just because of the size turbo. 3.5 maybe overkill and tough to hide. speed density is by far the best for a boosted application but a maf is more accurate and precise. if your maf has a built in air intake temp sensor then use it as a blow through for more accurate air temp readings. bov can be mounted anywhere on a speed density system. on a maf system you need to mount the bov before the maf so when the bov vents it doesnt vent metered air causing closed throttle stumble/stalling. |
Yeah I ended up running 4 inch to the t6 flange, and 3.5 to intercooler. It has been suggested that since i aint running a bunch of boost to not even run a BOV between it being a stick and the length of my charge pipe.
I also ran -4 to the oil fitting and -10 to the scavenge pump. |
