Default My Turbo LS/Vtec with Pics! 56k give it a try

Hi,
Well, I'm finally gonna post my setup, I hoarded parts like a squirrel over winter to put this together. I found a B18b at a local junkyard while looking for a Z6. So I figured I would go LS Turbo. Then IhaveanSTD had a B16 head for sale, and he's local to me, so I bought that. I had the block bored 20 over. Then my brother and I rebuilt it with a GSR oil pump and new water pump. along with all new gaskets/etc. At the time, filling the block was all the HMT rage, so I filled it with the Devcon. ARP headstuds and rod bolts. Cometic headgasket.
This is what I started with

Pretty clean for up here (upstate new york). It came lowered but it caused too many headaches with clearances and my traction bars, so I replaced the springs with some stockers. The back is saggy as ----, gonna get some new ones.

I bought this ramhorn from CSaddict over the winter. $350 shipped, I thought it was a steal.

The turbo, a T3 .63/.60 from an SVO mustang, rebuilt by blaast. Running a 1/16" restrictor.

Heres another view from the bottom. I made an adapter for the funny compressor housing at work, along with a 2.5" to 1.75(?)" reducer from parts america.

Heres the oil return, -10an braided hose from summit.

Heres a shot of the Wastegate piping, running a CDM wg with a 3.6psi spring, routed back into the exhaust.

Exhaust is 2.5" mandrel, with a summit glasspack along with a dynomax muffler. (bad picture)

This is my boost controller, based on the design seen here on HMT, except its a 2 stage. I have it wired into the horn button, when pushed in its set to low setting, when the horn is released it goes to high boost. Right now its set to 7 psi. Eventually I will adjust it to ~11 psi. Tuning myself with Crome and an LC-1.

I painted my ebay intercooler flat black for the stealth factor. I tried to cut as little grille away as possible to accomodate the IC.

My oil feed line. It wasn't long enough to make it around the timing belt, so my bro rigged it up behind the timing belt. I like it!

The super secret Dsm Bov. My upper charge pipe is an old AEM intake, so I couldn't weld to it. I put the bov right after the compressor in the fender/bumper area.

Plexi panel holding my no frills VDO boost gauge. I will be filling the other hole with a VDO oil pressure gauge.

We call this the "control center". gutted my glovebox to make chip changes easier. Looks really high tech! It also holds my datalogging cable header thing.
Boosting @7psi feels good. I am slowly tuning my afrs to ~11.75:1. I haven't touched timing yet, but I just got my Det Can put in today, along with my catch can. On shitty tires my best so far is a 13.6@105mph. I'm gonna turn up the boost to 10psi after I install my freescale 2.5 bar map sensor. I also have traction bars built but I am waiting till I get the new rear springs and an alignment to install them. Hoping for high high 12's with higher boost levels and suspension limiters. we'll see what happens...

Wow looks like a solid setup. Is the block built at all besides being filled? I really like the ECU in the glovebox idea. Did you have to extend the harness any or did it reach? I might do that if it's not too hard.

I like the innovation...who needs a radio or a glove box anyways.
and I'm guessing the ecu plugs are extended.

The block is stock other than the ARP hardware. I have another block that I'll probably build over the winter. I bought some scat rods, i'm looking into some forged pistons. Well, I'm actually just waiting for a killer deal on some.
yes, the ecu plugs are extended. It was a real pain in the ***.

Nice setup man. Very clean, nice ECU and gauge locations too.

Actually, I just checked my old pms that I never seem to delete, you made that manifold last August. You said it wasn't perfect, but man, you must have some pretty high ------- standards! It looks mint to me, and it gets alot of positive comments when I pop the hood. I wasn't looking for a ram at the time, but it was too good to pass up!

Ah, that makes sense. If I make something I am not happy with it goes cheap. I think the distance between runners was the issue. I have them closer together normally. Serves its purpose though.
