Is my turbo bad

So I have a 91 crx hf, sohc zc vtec swap, hf main SR20det t25 turbo, OBD1 Uber 450s, ss oil line from home Depot. Anyways I did a few test runs using bbka map so I pull in to my drive way and notice oil on the floor. I check it out it was my return line had came lose, so I fix it then I want out for another run and notice it was smoking. I did a compression test and its 125 across the board. So im guessing it might be the turbo because there is oil in the down pipe, or i might need a oil restricker.

Re: Is my turbo bad

yeah 120 is ok for my motor but not for yours. put a teaspoon of oil in there and it will show you what it should be. also pressure from the oil feed line might have pushed pass the seal or just left a little in there. go dirve it around a bit more to see if it goes away<my guess.

I Was running 118, 115, 118, 110,(regular is about 135-140) and it was horrible. sounds like you need to follow the lead of me and rebuild.

Re: Is my turbo bad

My vitara block has 125 across the board :6 I say run it into the ground. Smoking problems from turbo include 1. Blowby (get a cathcan) 2. Not enough gravity for oil drain (get more gravity) 3. Too big of an oil feed (run a restrictor or a 3AN line) 4. Turbo seals, smokes on decel and idle (rebuild or get a new one) off the top of my head those are the most common problems, if its not the turbo then I say get a catchcan and then run it into the ground. :y

continue with this... how about on acceleration it only smokes. Also catchcan, will this really help with oil burning?

did you open the throttle plate when you did the compression test?

Re: Is my turbo bad

hell yeah with the right amount of pcv vacume you can make your bottom end last alot longer and avoid narly blowby. < this is the reason im rebuilding, previous owner let the valve cover breathe through atmosphere not completely recomended

All I did was just crank a few times on each one.

Re: Is my turbo bad

yea you have to hold the throttle wide open when you crank. But thats not gonna get you another 60psi. My stock z6 was 185.

You have to remove the ECU fuse and hold the throttle plate open. If not you will get inconsistant reads.

Re: Is my turbo bad

keep in mind that vitara pistons put your compression at around 8.8:1, so 110 isnt that bad. But im not really sure. It runs great though
