My nOOb-ass turbo project--Warning 56K UPDATE: Blew the fuck out of it.

Well after months of research and scrounging for parts, I finally boosted my 93 dx hatch. D15B7 powa! It's not running yet, I'm waiting for my xenocron ecu, I tried to chip a p28 but my noobness must've fucked it up. Oh well. Setup is:

DSM T25 internally gated at 8psi
HF mani w/T25 adapter plate
1G DSM o2 housing
2.5" crush-bent downpipe with 6" flex section/o2 bung
1G DSM bov
RC 440's - I've had them laying around for months
JRC 6" FMIC (Thank you HMT group buy!!)
Stealthmode oil line kit
2" charge-piping (made from 10ft. piece from Home Depot for $20)
Some Home Depot couplers (hopefully they last for at least a lil while)
Random lawn-mower filter
Innovate lc-1 wb
moates burn1 w/Ostrich
I bought a $120 laptop just for tuning

Now for the pics! Lemme know what you HMT lover's think. Thanks for any comments or just for looking.

-Peter

Nice and I love the air filter. I might go look into one. Is it a 2.5" inlet?

Oh yea if you EVER say "blank" again I promise I'll kill you. Don't bring that gay talk in here. I'm sorry, but I have a bad history with this model agent speaker basically using that lingo and saying popular kids are going no where and my father is trash due to not going to college. Sorry for the rant, never again. He promised that word would hit us in a few months since it was sooo cool. Never did and I won't let it happen here.

I've been truly humbled samson, and just for you I changed it. Let me know if you approve. ;)

Re: My nOOb-ass turbo project--Warning 56K

Oh and on the air filter, it's way smaller than 2.5" inlet. It was closer to 1.5" all I remember is that it was small and we had to stretch it pretty good to get it on the tiny ass inlet on my t25.
And thanks for all the feedback guys, I'm hoping to update on the running/ostrich real soon.

Looks good, and the whitey bends just show that you belong here ;)

What's up with your manifold

Looks clean by the head flange. Is that all it is? Also kinds look like you put some high-temp grey paint only on that certain area.

nice setup man. you might want to think about crushing the bov in a vice just to make sure it works correctly other then that nice clean job.

Simply put, Gangsta. Not to shabby. Your intercooler piping price is good but its no match for my radiator hose that i got for free at the junkyard. lol j/k. Nice though makes my ---- look ghetto.

Crushing a DSM BOV "should" stop it from leaking at 15-20psi, he isn't running that much boost, so there is no need to crush it.

Re: My nOOb-ass turbo project--Warning 56K UPDATE: It lives! well...sorta.

UPDATE: It's not a very special update, but I've been having the biggest bitch of a time trying to get my car running...at all. I didn't know if the ecu was the problem, or the chip burner, or my rom's or something else, so I figured I'd put in stock ecu/injectors just to see if it was started (I thought maybe I blew a fuse or something). It started! But it took A LOT of effort. My car's been sitting for a while with some old shitty gas (don't worry 93's goin in). There's no way it would've started w/out the stock stuff.

So I got it "running", and it sounded awesome, so I'm somewhat revitalized. Today I go back to try my burn1/and or ostrich. Hopefully I can give you a real update later. Thanks for all the support guys.

Re: My nOOb-ass turbo project--Warning 56K UPDATE: Blew the fuck out of it.

Well guys, I sorted out all of my problems with the car not starting, solid CEL's, random CEL's, not burning chips right, all that, and I got my civic on the road today. It was quite exciting for a few hours, and now my block has a golf ball-sized hole in it. I was running a crome basemap w/rc440s, .8deg retard/psi, 110% turbo efficiency, blah blah.

My friends saw a huge flame shoot from underneath my car (open dp) and it sounded like a ------- shotgun. Car still runs pretty good actually, just sprays a little oil outta the hole. I'll post pics of the aftermath soon, I have a vid of the aftermath too.

Plans are to attempt to jb weld the hole in the block and see how that goes. I'm looking for a new motor in the meantime.

Wasn't really revvin it no, plus it only revs to 6800 anyways, I didn't get that far, I'd had in 87 but the needle on the gas gauge was on the E line and I filled up with 93 so it's not that. I don't think I even lost a rod, I can still see it cycling and it actually didn't look that bad (keep in mind I couldn't see the whole thing) just a little scratched. I'll try to take some more pics today. It was backfiring pretty bad though.

if there is a hole obviously something broke so its not something you can just jb weld

Re: My nOOb-ass turbo project--Warning 56K UPDATE: Blew the fuck out of it.

I can try, all I'm going to wanna do is make it so I can drive it 4 min. to the garage at my school so I can tear out the motor and throw the new one in. I would have driven it the 2 min. back to my house but it was spritzing a little oil out the hole so I just had my friend tow me. I'll probably do a compression test too just for my own learning purposes.
