Default my build.1960 Studebaker Lark Twin turbo

This is the story of the Lark.My cousin got the car when he found it at old garage. He thought "I can make a few bucks on it" and got the thing for $800.he cleaned it up and got it on E-Bay,well he didn't think the bidding was only going to go up to $500.and knowing I had an account he asked me to bid on it for him.I reluctantly did so with a $800. bid ( what he paid for it) and I won it WTH. I told him I do not want the thing and he agreed to let me back out. I was working for him over the summer and he fell on hard times and he wanted to give me the car. I told him " I don't want it. it is ugly". To make it shorter I got the car for $200.and I started doing things to it.after convincing my wife I could sell it and make some cash on it after I worked on it for a bit,I got the thing cleaned up and it was clean from rust.I worked on it and started to like the thing. It came apart real easy. Not one bolt needed sprat to come loose.I convinced the wife it was a wise build and she shook her head and told me I was a moron. I knew I did not want another Camaro ect. I wanted something no one had and everyone around my circle is big block Chevy people w/ nitrous I threw away their comments and did my own thing once again.I went with a small block Chev inercooled twin turbo.TH-400 and I am going for 15-20 # of boost.well this is not a conventional build, but it I wanted something different ( not another Camaro) Dont get me wrong, I like them but there are way too many of them out there.Check it out it is different.
This is the old girl when I got her.

after doing the floors the build took off.

failed attempt at getting the chevy in a studebaker

here you can see me and my son doing what I always dreamed of,building a motor together.

I tought him what he needed top know for the lower end and with me watching closely,I let him go.

this was my solution to the engine fitting.changed it to a real plate system

I needed a parts car so I got one. for the windshield new they wanted $500.to get it to my door and I got a whole car for $400.

I stripped it pretty good and I still am stripping it lol

changed piping a few times to get it to fit right.

as you can see things are in there.they are tight but I got everything to work well ( so far). this is the first car I have built from the ground up so you can imagine the hrs of study that went into this thing.just understanding the Studebaker workings is a handfull. Although, I got a lot to go things look good to me so far."sound off" if you like the thing.I need all the inspiration I can get especially after being told I was an idiot so many times for not " following the sheep heard" and not doing what everyone else is doing.

very unique. cant wait to see more. your going to suprise the ---- out of your camaro buddies when you blow past them in a hale of tire smoke. that engine with 15-20# of boost should easily make over 500hp.

well I got a Dana 44 in her right now ( stock) but I don't think it is going to cut the mustard.a ford 9 would be the right choice but as far as a drop in, a 8.8 would do fine and they come (some) with a 3.08 gear w/ a possi.they are in explorers and rangers so I think i am going to find a ranger and beef it up. I dont want to have a real short rear but with the one I have gives me a lot of back spacing already so I am going to get a rear the same width ( ranger/exp) and get some 84 and down dodge van rims.they can hold a 10.5 width et-street. I found a place that can and does put white wall's on any tire you want so I am going to go that route with a ET-Street tire for the rear. the fronts are already 6" rims so having a skinny on there already saved me from looking for something to fit that bill.

I took the winter off due to the cold I don't get along with the cold at all.I got the wiring almost done. The power goes to the fuse box, turns on the a1000 pump, water pump, turns on the msd stuff, and turns the car over with the key,the fuel lines are all ran,and I have bought myself a CSU blow thru carb (850) everything is almost ready to be tested ( and started ) I need more cash and time but it is looking good for the 4th of july party (we have a burn out contest and I think I am going to be in the running this year) this will be the first year I have something to show.If all goes well and cash is there it will be the best year I have ever had.if I can keep the block together under boost (15#) I think I will break the 10's w/o NOS I got to build the exhaust yet and do some things under the car like re build the x-member,get a drive shaft, ect ect but the light at the end of the tunnel is showing itself,I need to get a hog ring pliers for the interior so I can install the bench seat and install the shifter ( I hope it is tall enough ) but like I said,it is getting there and faster than I thought seeing how I am the only one wanting to work on it.getting help is like pulling teeth and I gave up on asking the family for a helping hand.more to come in the future I promise.
