i also used zip ties :P. not the best way but they get the job done. i think its a little harder to put the ic on a 88-91. b/c of the way the bumper(metal piece) is shaped. there really wasnt room for the"tabs" that u are suposed to use to mount the ic with. i just cut those off and wrapped zip ties around the ic and the whole bumper suport.next year im going to have someone weld other brackets on the ic so i can use bolts.

If you can, look around the junkyards for an hf bumper support, it's really thin and didn't require any cutting to install my 5" intercooler.

Re:Mounting the Front Mount

zip ties? come on guys, you'll spend a good day and a half working on the car to do the install and you won't spend 10-15minutes or less to make two holes so you can bolt down the intercooler? if you're in the situation where you have to fabricate a mounting bracket and you don't have a welder but you can mount it with zip ties, atleast go to Home Depot and spend $4.00 on two of the extra large metal hose clamps to use instead of the plastic zip ties.

yea, its a 6" one, im going to finish working on it tommoro and hopefully, if i dont get pissed off, i cant get it all on there. I know there has to be someone with a 6" intercooler. also about the hf support, id still prob have to cut more out anyways

Re:Mounting the Front Mount

with the hf I really don't think you would have to cut out any at all. The hf bumper support is only one tiny little beam that connects the two mounting spots. It's really tiny compared to the si.

I've got the JRC big ass one and I just made a custom support out of double sided strut:

Re:Mounting the Front Mount

i have a cca ic. with the mounting tabs on top. these would not alow me to fit the ic on the bumper suport(shape of ef bumper is not strait across it goes down on the ends). i had to cut these mounting tabs(actually big thick pieces of alum.) off. and then the ic slid in very nicely, but now i have no way of mounting the ic. so i used some 2'x 1/2" zip ties and pulled it snug to the bumper. u could prob. tow the car with my ic. this is just till i can have tabs welded on it next spring(in west virginia we have snowy winters).
