wow 60mph before a first shift must be great on gas

Re:MonteCarlo Turbo pics

My TH350 refused to shift, so i had to let go of the loudpedal to shift. I never had the chance to let it reach max Rpm in second. I got it up to 100 Mph so far.
I sold the car and kept the engine.
I'll see if i can dig up a pic of it.
I'm now building a 305 Rollercam for my next car (camaro) with the same turbo and manifold.
Only it will have better exhaust manifolds.

The only reason I am posting this here is because it sparked a memory regarding GM cars and turbos, and perhaps you've all seen this before, but it will give something to smile about... I know it's not a Monte Carlo, but the Grand National and then the '57 Bel Air is something to make a jaw drop. ;D Enjoy:

I dunno if the "no pics" statements was about my post, and if so, they're links, not pics, check it out. They're working perfectly fine. :)

Re:MonteCarlo Turbo pics

Just wondering how the carb was modified for fuel. The pic looks like a carter afb?Did the same with my first setup before i intercooled it.
Straight off the turbo into the carb.Trans would have worked better for you if you unhooked your kick down off the carb an manually shifted it.I have that t-350 trans in the truck now an it actually is working out pretty good that way.Just using the modulator for normal upshifts.

Re:MonteCarlo Turbo pics

These pics are with the Edelbrock 500
It is the same as a carter AFB.
Since my HM filled floats kept imploding I switched it for holley 500 2Bbl. This kept working fine untill the brakes gave up.
For the carter. All i did was completely removing the choke and plugging the holes that stayed open after that. I put 2steps larger jets in the second stage and thinner rods in the first stage.
For the Holley. Also completly removed the choke and plugging all the holes. Also converted the 50cc acc pump to 30cc( was a little to big for a 267)
@ BoostdRex
I saw the 8 Turbo 57 chevy on the sema this year.
It was amazing to see it in real life.
Remember I live aproxx 5500 miles from you.
I don't get parts as easy as you guys.

Re:MonteCarlo Turbo pics

@Abaz
I send you the pics
It was pretty fast 0-60 in 7ish seconds.
Most the time went by waiting for the boost to come in @2200 rpm.
I do not have HP figures or ¼ mile times.
The chassis flexxed a little and broke my rusty brakelines.
I had to stop with only the E-brake from 70Mph while I was running out of road quickly.

I would have LOVED to see the '57, since that model car is my dream car... Someday I WILL own one, just like every other car I said I would own. Buy a "beater" (which can be found around here for about 2 G's and up, and fix it all up nice and purdy. I don't believe I would never turbo it tho - maybe just juice it for kicks. :)

Re:MonteCarlo Turbo pics

I have a 57 210 stationwagon standing around here.
They say it is pretty rare.
Original with 283 V8 and an automatic (powerglide).
I can build my turbokit on that one maybe.
I think my boss wont let me.
I'll stay with my 85 Camaro.
Also I have a 89 Prelude EX, 91 Accord EX and an 90 Opel Vectra 2.0 CD(150 Mph car).

Re:MonteCarlo Turbo pics

What kinda compression are you running? any detonation problems running no intercooler?

Turbo_Camaro 12-27-2004 01:52 AM

Re:MonteCarlo Turbo pics

The 267 had 8.2:1 CR.
The 305 i'm building has 9.0:1 CR
For the 305 i'll be running water injection.
The 267 did not detonate at all. I used an Edelbrock A/F meter to keep track of it. Most of the time it would run quit rich and the boost was only 5.5 Psi.
I was leaning it out until my brakes failed.
Acceleration was pretty fast at that moment.
