Default modifying a turbo

i have a few questions ive been searching around the internet for awhile now for answers but came up with nothing.

in this picture is it ok to put washers in between the wastegate and compressor housing. if so will i raise or lower boost levels its going on a 14b turbo so i think in the stock form it will be 9psi correct me if im wrong please.

and in this picture is it ok to grind down the little peg so i can rotate the compressor housing since the turbo outlet is being blocked by the exhaust manifold?

thanks for any help you guys could give

if you add washers to the wastegate, you'll raise boost. it's ok to do it but keep an eye on your boost gauge til you get the boost yoy want by adding more washers. as for the peg, it can be cut off if you're talking about that little metal stick poping up from the exhaust housing mount.

is there any way to lower boost i was reading the sticky on the top of the page and it says the 14b's gate its set to 8 any idea what adding washers will set it at?

beacause if i dont use washers and just attach it how it is the flapper stays open a little more then a 1/4 of the way is this a bad idea?

well whatever the waste gate comes set at, it'll keep those settings no matter how many washers you need to add>
aslong as the exh. flapper is closed when the wastegate is mounted and aslong as there's no aditional tension on the w/g arm. if you lower the boost by adjusting the arm to where the flapper remains a little open then the car will take longer to develop full boost.

i read your question again. just add washers till the flapper is closed, but not forcefuly closed. the washer thing is a good idea.

wouldnt leaving the flapper open just increase spool time?

the reason the wastegate doesnt matchup with the monting brackets is because i rotated the compressor housing. so would that and extra tension to the w/g arm?

i tried looking at the lowering pressure on the FAQ page but that link doesnt seem to load it the only one that doesnt too just my luck.

if the flapper is forcefully closed what would happen? i guess what im really tryin to get at is how can i lower boost on an internally gated turbo (14B).

the more forcfully closed=more boost. slightly to a little open = less boost.
