moates 2 timer/p06 question
hey guys, no one seems to know about this, i posted on thezcr and crxcommunity and got nothing.
hopefully someone can help.. hey guys i got the moates 2 timer switch for my p06 ecu.. i think everything is alright but im not sure, i dont mess with electronics alot... a few questions.. does it matter which way the chip is facing? i faced the lettering the same way A as it was so i think its right and B going in the same direction as all the other writing inside the ecu with the moates 2 timer switch, do i just run it to a ground, but throw a switch in the middle and bam im done? im thinking thats the concept, once again just not 100% positive its all japenese to me, litterally. here are some pics,i think its pretty cool.. it goes : moates 2 timer switch, this little holder for chips, and then an sst 27sf512 chip pics to help. https://i212.photobucket.com/albums/...1/CIMG0794.jpg https://i212.photobucket.com/albums/...1/CIMG0795.jpg https://i212.photobucket.com/albums/...1/CIMG0797.jpg https://i212.photobucket.com/albums/...1/CIMG0798.jpg https://i212.photobucket.com/albums/...1/CIMG0799.jpg https://i212.photobucket.com/albums/...1/CIMG0800.jpg https://i212.photobucket.com/albums/...1/CIMG0801.jpg thanks, matt |
Re: moates 2 timer/p06 question
yes it matters which way the chip is facing, ignore writing on other chips
see the little half moon cutout on the end of the chip? line it up with the latch on your zif socket "this little holder for chips", the halfmoons on the 2timer, and the one on your ecu. basically your last pic looks correct from what I can see. yes run that wire to a switch to ground. |
Re: moates 2 timer/p06 question
chip in the wrong direction will fry the chip and could destroy other electrical devices
|
Re: moates 2 timer/p06 question
oh okay cool, so... i took everything off just to be safe. starting with the ecu, i matched the half moon with the 2 timer, then added the zif socket, which has no half moon (im assuming it doesnt matter cause there isnt a chip in it.. and it didnt fit the other way) and then the chip, with the half moon facing the same way...
- does anyone know how ill be able to use it? what when its on the dyno, create a map on the regular ecu, then put in the chip and make a second map, and the ground will bypass the ecu map and run the map off of the chip, creating 2 maps??? http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...1/CIMG0825.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...1/CIMG0826.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...1/CIMG0827.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...1/CIMG0829.jpg and moates switch(closest one), the little black wire goes to a ground off of the switch to the left, positive from the ecu isnt connected... http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...1/CIMG0824.jpg thanks, matt |
Re: moates 2 timer/p06 question
just ------- learn to use your ------- head
http://www.moates.net/documentation....entation_id=27 wow 2 seconds. Program your chip with 2 bins instead of one bin on half the chip and the other half blank. Run the white wire to ground to read the lower address, remove ground from that address and your ecu will read the upper address J1 needs to be jumpered for either to work otherwise your ecu will read the stock bin. I noticed you have j1 run to a switch that's the only reason I mentioned it. This isn't even in the right forum. The proper forum even tells you how to make a 2timer cause its simple |
Re: moates 2 timer/p06 question
ya i read that on the moates site, thats why im posting here.. none of that makes any sense...
whats j1? what do you mean by jumpered? |

Re: moates 2 timer/p06 question
oh okay, so what your saying is that since the j1 is already jumpered, when that switch is connected, i will be able to run both the upper and lower address from the moates switch, but if it isnt switched, ill run a stock map. im assuming moates wanted you to saughter a wire into the j1 spot so it would be able to do this all the time, but i bought the ecu with the j1 jumpered, it was going to be used as a security device (1 map boosted/one map stock NA), but now im running 2 maps boosted (street/strip), and then the security switch(stock map)
is this correct?am i all set? thanks, matt -after reading this all about 5 times, it really does make sense to me, thanks again i really appreciate the help stenseltizm |
Re: moates 2 timer/p06 question
Sounds like you've got it, don't mind me bitching not sure what my problem was I ask dumb ?'s all the time

Re: moates 2 timer/p06 question
ha its cool bud my bad i should have put this in the other section. ha before i was just throwing chips into a computer i bought, but now i understand it, will a shop tuning it know the process of how to make the 2 maps (erasing and all i dont have a chip burner) but i do have 2 chips
