I have a $10 ebay MBC and its been fine for over a year now

Ok strange ---- happens when you play with the wg signal.

This is one of the expeiments we tried a one way valve that would not allow air to pass untill it the presure was 10 PSI.

In theory it should have worked.
But car would hit strong boost gauge would show 15-20 PSI and car would stall.

It wasnt untill we hooked up a Map sensor and a dataloger that we found that boost was spiking at 50 PSI for a fraction of a second and that would push all the fuel in the bowl out.

Also like somebody said it depends on the brand of the MBC your runing.

Yea, and have you gone to the dyno and watched your boost fall off? I have $14.44 one and it does the job, but I need an electronic. I like SPIKE to 10.5psi then fall of to 7ish.

I run a different one, but this is just an idea. Go to eGay and search for MBC or Manual Boost Controller and you'll find them cheap.
