map sensor question

is it necessary to use a "missing link" (i think thats what they call them??) or check valve between the the manifold and the map sensor on hondas?? im kinda confused on this and any help or links to the right thread would be appreciated..thanks

Re: map sensor question

Depends on you Management system. What are you using to control fuel?

Free? You mean a new motor in 2 months is free?

Can't help you, Only worked with SAFC/VAFCs and ECUs. Have fun!

Re: map sensor question

Yeah, if your going to use an FMU, then use the Check valve (missing link) because you dont want your MAP reading any positive pressure then in turn you'll get a check engine which in turn your engine is ran in ---- mode.

Re: map sensor question

How much boost do you plan to run? An fmu is ok if you're at low boost and you retard your timing a bunch. It's not a great alternative but it can work.

Re: map sensor question

sell the fmu, use crome and get some dsm 450s. u can go to a junkyard and gank some 450's or get them for about 50 bux. sell the fmu to some retard and put that money towad having someone like xenocron chip it for you. hell of a lot safer and not that expensive

Re: map sensor question

well i have no experience with tuning and i dont have a computer to do it with or anything like that..if it even needs that?? im only gonna run like 7-8 psi..i wasnt asking if i should use an FMU because im going to run now..its what i have already..just asking if it was NECESSARY to use the check valve..thanks for all the input..

thanks guy..your the one thats taking time to post saying someone else is stupid just for asking a question..faggot..do everyone a favor and keep your mouth shut..the world will be a better place

Re: map sensor question

go to a fish store and by two or three fish tank check valves! mine took 3 for the map sensor not to feel boost. by going that route though ull need n extra map sensor... cant just leave that hole on top of the t/b.
those check valves were like a 1.50 a piece... its simple good luck

Re: map sensor question

make another thread in a couple weeks sayin you blew your motor with your shitty fmu and ill say your stupid once again fuckass

Re: map sensor question

just because your faggot-ass blew your own motor up doesnt mean im going to ... the only reason you tried to take a stab at someone else is because your a complete dumb ---- and have no knowledge on the subject whatsoever and wanted to cover it up by calling someone else stupid..get a life man..

as to everyone else..thanks for the input..i might try the fish-tank valves..but wouldnt the check valve have to have some kinda of bleed or something so that the map sensor would not see vacuum all the time?? thanks again guys

Re: map sensor question

the check valves work. ive used them numerous times. theyre kinda like a whoopie cushion...

you are tee'ing them in so they are bleeding off the boost...you will add them until you dont get a cel

i would never put a piece of ---- fmu on my engine your question is answered in tons of articles if you would just search and read you stupid dumb ass

Re: map sensor question

your the one that cant read you dumbass..the question wasnt about the fmu, it was about the check valves..learn to read you illiterate piece of ----...

as for smellydohc and ghettoturbo..ill probably try that..

"stupid dumb ass" huh? is that like 2 negatives make a positive?? :y I can vouch for smellysohc the fish tank check valves really work.

i don't believe he was asking if he should put one on. he said he was going to, there was no question about that. he wanted to know about missing link/check valves. yes uberdata or turboedit would be better, but he doesn't have the loot. so you might as well just help him, or not say anything.

anyways i thought 4-5psi was somewhat safe with an fmu. you should look into getting a chip kit when you can and some 450's. i understand the broke thing, cause thats why i have 95% of the ---- to boost my car, but its been sitting in the garage for 5 mo.
you can get a chip kit at moats.net for $15.

Re: map sensor question

If he's cheap and only wants to run 5 lbs or so fmu is fine, my friend ran one for 2 years engines still runing strong...some people just have bad luck. I wouldnt reccomend using one as its alot more risky but yes, about 3 valves is what it takes.

salesmonkey 03-16-2006 02:48 PM

Re: map sensor question

depends what engine he is running if its a crappy old d-serious who the F cares if he screws it up. go buy another one for cheap and get it back running. now if he spent a lot of money in his car and turbo set up and hes slapping a fmu in there now we all can say wtf you thinking retard. for now lets see what he can do with the fmu. unless someones sending him free injectors and someones going to tune his car for him :l

MAJORAHOLE 03-16-2006 02:51 PM

Re: map sensor question

someone could burn him a safe basemap, and send it. but i'm keepin my injectors :P
