On the other hand besides using pipe fitting you could goto a pipe supply store and buy weldment fittings and then you dont have to worry bout grinding out the threads and having to deal with cutting threw that thick ass pipie to weld on a flange and the weldment fittings come with bevels on them for weld prep. to make welding easier.
heres my HMTurbo header made fomr weldment fittings. |
Re: make your own manifold
looks good. i know thay had weld T's and 90's but they were pretty pricey. think they wanted $22 just for a T, if i was gonna pay that price i would just get the ---- from ace stainless or another site that sells that ----.

I did: https://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/...?topic=82585.0 Attachment 19305 Slo_crx1 did it before me, for a 14b on his b16 a while back. That's where I got the idea. You have to take some material off between the T's and die grind the threads. Bevel the edges too between the joints then fill the bevel with weld. |
Re: make your own manifold
damn, almost makes me wish i still worked at a hardware store..haha
|
Re: make your own manifold
Looks good. Can someone post some pics, of the inside of the runners, once they are welded to the head flange? I want to see what kind of porting needs to be done, or filling. Thanks

Re: make your own manifold
too much trouble for shitty flow. might aswell buy a ching chow cast manifold and get better results.
|
Re: make your own manifold
That's what I have. Just curious about the ports. :1

Re: make your own manifold
i tried tig welding those exact fittings together and that ---- is as bad a cast iron. the weld is cracked before you even pull the torch away. those are not weld els
