Exactly. An expensive waste of money. As said, the temperature drop is more than negligable and does little if no good at all.

I would agree. Measuring the outside temp dosent prove anything.
On a dyno it wouldnt work again. Cause the car wasnt moving.

We hooked up a bead Thermocouple and got a defnite drop in intake charge temp.
THe bead was placed just after the IC. 10-15 Deg C. So basiclly your improving your intercooler effiency. This should give you an aditional 3-5 BHP easy.

If you have a top mount IC like we do in this pic.
You could pack it with dry ice just before you did your run.
ALso since its top mount no chance of watter hiting the mani.

I wont mind two if you can spare em. Will pay for shiping.

forget everything. On a hot day. Hit the sprayer. You will just feel it on your butt dyno. The gains are pretty obvious. At least in our climate.

It never read lower than 2º difference and this was when the intercooler was cool already and the car hadn't been run for hours.

Silly ricer :(

Good pictures and write up, although I've done this back in 1992 lol

how are your checking air temp with that, your checking surface temp i beleive.

it test the surfaces temp

You're forgetting that an NTX Ntercooler unit is a surface sprayer anyways. If it only cools the surface 2º, it ain't gonna cool the inside much more. As said, the temp drop was measured after the sprayer had been on for a good 20 seconds. if it isn't going to cool it by then, it ain't gonna cool it afterwards either. As said, an expensive waste of money and a waste of nitrous that could go where it belongs, in the engine.

On the other hand, a cheaply done water/alcohol sprayer unit is more than useful, especially since it costs about $350 less. Eery sprayer that I have ever made has cost me around $15. My point is that the high dollar units are nothing but a gimmick.

that makes more sence then your earlier post but at the same time if the engine isn't/wasn't running to be hot to begin with then you really can't get a decent reading in drop temp to compare to anything. but i like all the comments everybody is giving. starting to get more ideas. somebody mentioned hooking the power wire to the vtec solinoid, thats a really good idea so then you wouldn't have to worry about pushing any button. think i'll do that today.

That logic is still flawed.
Try this spray your tea-shirt. Sit arround do you feel cold.
now go for a spin on your bike. With the wet te-shirt big difirence.

But yeah anything more than watter or ice is a waste of time.

Re: made a homemade water sprayer for the FMIC

i got tired of the switch so i hooked it up to my vtec solinoid and too make sure i know when it's spraying i hooked up a led to it and put it in one of the unused panels. everything works pretty good so far. i keep a gatorade bottle with some ice and water in the fridge so it will be really cold when i use it but my chic keeps drinking it :(. maybe i should add somethign to make it taste nasty ;). j/p
