Default Lowering wastegate psi setting

Well guys my chrysler turbo is factory set a 7 psi on the wastegate. I would like to lower this right off the bat though because whether my stock injectors can handle that is iffy.

Anywho I've heard of bending the actuator rod as one solution. How should it be bent and I herad this caused more turbo lag somewhere on here.

The second thing I've heard is cutting the rod and threading both sides while using a nut (special kind cant think of the name) between them.

Any other ways?

Any help would be appriciated. I'd like to drop it to 5 psi for me to start with....

Yeah, thread the actuator rod, and use a nut to ajust the length to get the psi where you want. Lengthen it to lower psi, shorten it to raise psi. Or, you can bend the actuator bracket, but alot of times when people do that they have problems with the bracket hitting the block etc. I'm not sure if it will hit anything on a Sunfire, so just check it out before you start bending anything.

I can mail you a picture of exactly how to modify the rod so that it can be shortened or lengthened but only if you promise to post it up to benefit mankind.

2000psi, its a deal sent it I'll put it in my msn group and post it.

Also thank you trance, almost afraid to bend it though lol. Will this cause increased lag time?

sent.

I would just use the stock setting and work out your fuel system....since there's no Hondata or ghettodyne I would look into adding an additional injector or two even though it's not the best idea, it'll work better than an FMU. I think the AFC hack might even work with some creative wiring.

Yeah, I think the AFC will work too. My firnd has a 2000 Mercury Cougar he wired the AFC up in.

2000psi,

I received your email but I'm having problems with the file. It will not open so maybe its corrupt.

As for the AFC, yes I could run that many are along with an FMU. Frankly I'd just rather get a Unichip for my car down the road. I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to do yet but we'll see.
