looking for a turbo setup

i am looking into purchasing a turbo kit for my 97 civic ex. my budget is going to be around $1500-$2000 and i was wondering what is needed to put the 15g kit (92-95) on my 97? is it worth it to spend the extra 5 bills to up to the 19t kit? will there be a big jump in hp between teh 15g and 19t? also what other kits are out there that will fit on my 97 within my price range?

if i went the rout of gathering my own parts for a custom kit could someone please list the parts i will need for a reliable daily driven setup.

Look at the Greddy Kit, they dont come with an IC, but they are about $1500 for your year civic. Check out www.city-speed.com Thats where I got mine from for my 99 EX

build you own, it'll be cheaper, faster, and you'll learn something

This is also true, but myself, I tried doin it myself, and with OBD2, it was about the same price makin it myself as to buying the greddy kit with everything in it, FMU, injectors, turbo, manifold, downpipe, piping, ect...

the only thing that having obd2 affects is not being able to use one of the free ecu programs out there. i myself have built several setups for anywhere from like 200-700 dollars. it all depends on where you get your parts and if you can do stuff yourself

Yeah, but OBD2 has a little more stuff that comes into effect later. Like the damn O2 sensor on the cat >:( When i was lookin into gettin hondata, the price difference between obd1 and obd2 was a couple hundered bucks....Personally I think Greddy has one of the best kits for its price around, for a D16Y8 (99-00) it was arond $1700, w/o IC, but you can get an IC at any junkyard CHEAP

putting an o2 sensor anywhere takes about 10 minutes, and instead of hondata, the best idea for obd2 is just to swap over to obd1

for me, being in canada i think it would be easier and so that i wouldnt get raped on shipping charges the greddy kit is looking pretty good right now. what will be the differnece between teh 15g and the 19t in terms of hp numbers and when full boost is achived. would it be worth the extra 4-5 bills to go for the 19t???

where were you lookin at? jdmshit.com has them for under 100 bones last time i checked. ecu should be about 60 on ebay. 160 into conversion, and 500-600 on a HMT style kit is way better than 1500 on a greddy kit w/o an intercooler
