a little help please... getting ready to start my HMT setup!!!
ok guys, this is going to be my first atemt at a homemade turbo and theres a few things i want to clear up ....
lets start with the adapter plate...
i have a 3/4 inch thick 4.5x4.5 inch pice of steel like stated in the tech section ...
now do i understande this corectly that u dont drill all the way through the plate How far into it to you drill for the bolts
also, is there a part number for those nissan studs... i cant just go to the dealer and be like "Yo .. i need a stud " haha ... theyl think im a homo ..
and one more, when putting it all together is there any other option for that 4th bolt u cant use besides putting a faty weld accros it? some other way to bold it down i really dont want to permanently attach the tubo to the plate in case the tubo goes bad or something ... i dont feel like making a shitload of adapter plates ...
also ... now this is all going into a 92 hatch .... for the downpipe, can i just use the 14b's 02 housing for a downpipe i mean just bolt a flange at the end of the o2 instead of cutting the o2 flage off and welding straight to it will i have clearence issues will this not work
thats all i can think of for now... any advice or comments would be great!!!1 thanks to all you guys in advance!!!

turbo tech section:
next. you don't have to use studs. you can use bolts.
what 4th bolt are you talking about not being able to use?
no need to weld to the plate.
You can use the stock DSM o2 housing on the later civics 92+ but on the older 88-91 Civic/CRX's we have to deal with that large front cross member in the way.

on the 14b i read that u can only use 3 out of 4 bolts to mount the turbo ...because there is not enough room to get a 4th both through on one side... this is off the main page tech setion on HMT....
heres a pic off the page, and they said they welded around it to make sure it was tight

thats a pretty good idea, allthough its prolly gonna be pretty hard to get it just right and getting the gasket to line up like that, but its worth a shot.... anyone else have any ideas
by the way, i picked up the 14b today.. i dont know much about turbos really, but its kinda wet on the compresor housing, .. im guessing maybe it just got wet when the oil line came off, or maybe this just happens on turbos im hopinh its a good turbo, on the bright side there is no shaft play at all and it spins freely, and all the fins are in good shape
