Little bmw motor build update
Today had its issues but went well overall. One major hang up I had was that the pin that the timing chain guide sits on was knicked up so I ordered a new one. Well, that was easy, but the hard part was getting the old pin out! My friend welded a bead around the end of the pin and we used a pair of vice grips welded to a slide hammer to get it out. Worked! After that it was smooth sailing, mostly.

I don't know how HMT is about cross-linking to other forums. I have an all-inclusive huge build up thread on bimmerforums I can link to if allowable. |
Re: Little bmw motor build update
Dude you can basicly call a moderator a -------face assfuck. I don't think they'll mind a direct link to a bimmer forum.
btw this is his hmt thead: https://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/...?topic=72190.0 I've been looking at this more lately, since I've decided once I get a 'real' job after school, I'll be using MS to tune my own inline-6 powered car, and so far a '95 M3 with the 3.0L seems to be the best bet. Cept I want a good weekend car that has good power but fast spool. |
Re: Little bmw motor build update

I will be using the new turbo on the new motor so that will hold me up a little as I need to now make a manifold |
Re: Little bmw motor build update
Nothing crazy just some hi res pics I got - my slave cylinder exploded so I took my camera with me when I went up to the shop.
http://blowneuroz.com/mygallery/New%20Motor/2.jpg http://blowneuroz.com/mygallery/New%20Motor/4.jpg http://blowneuroz.com/mygallery/New%20Motor/5.jpg I also decided that I am going to take the crank and piston assembly out. I decided that I want to go bigger since I have the PT76GTS. I got an m52 crank shaft (328i) and am ordering Eagle rods and Wiseco pistons for a fully built 2.8L bottom end. |
Re: Little bmw motor build update
Damn bro that looks really good :o. You sure are going all out on this motor.
|
Re: Little bmw motor build update
Love the progress. good work.

Re: Little bmw motor build update
Awesome work John, missing your updates on your thread on bf, but at least you don't get any of that dumb drama over here. Wiesco pistons? How low of a c/r ratio do you plan to go?
