Re:lighten flywheel with turbo
The lowest you want a stock flywheel is about 11-12lbs anything lower is unsafe. I use to run a aluminum 5.5lb flywheel on my turbozc and turbo mini-me. I highly recommend a lightened flywheel.

Re:lighten flywheel with turbo
I thin kit was on endynes site I read about chromoly wheels being the ones to stay away from, apparently the way the metal is treated tends to cause a shattering effect under certain circumstances.

Re:lighten flywheel with turbo
Well, I actually wanted to buy an aftermarket 7lbs flywheel but ended up buying an 8.9lbs flywheel. I hope it makes a nice difference.

Re:lighten flywheel with turbo
i have a 6.5 lb fidanza in my d15b(jdm vtec) at 5psi. car will be tuned for more boost. i have my stock crx radiator with only one fan. when ac in traffic results in overheating and you let off the throttle sometiimes the engine stall from revving too low. reduces load on engine. revs quick as hell, and results in a few horses.
if you overheat, its annoying. other than that its good. makes driving the clutch precisely a little harder, but so does a hard clutch, deal with it. |
Re: lighten flywheel with turbo
the only thing is make sure it is done properly..if it isn't it might be unbalanced and u might see the flywheel running down the road in front of you.after having cut thru ur gearbox bell housing and radiator and condensor. Another guy saw the flywheel cut thru the firewall and whiz right by him almost cutting his leg in two.

Re: lighten flywheel with turbo
I'm interested in this as well. I bought a 8lb fidanza and then decided to turbo after and I'll be pushing 14psi on a 16g at some points, will it rev way too fast?
